THE HEALTH BEAT GOES ON

The Ezempilo Ebantwini train continued to move in full swing today, 9 February 2026, as Health MEC Sasekani Manzini graced the Thembisile Hani Municipality in the Nkangala District to introduce four medical doctors at four community health centres.

The journey began at the Moloto CHC, then proceeded to Thembalethu CHC, before going to Vlaklaagte CHC and Kwaggafontein CHC, respectively.

The Ezempilo Ebantwini campaign is for massive transformation and it is geared towards addressing any challenges that exist in our facilities, with the sole intention of introducing immediate interventions and accelerating service delivery, thus ensuring that as the Mpumalanga Department of Health, we leave no one behind.

"We urge people to utilise the departmental healthcare services optimally, to come and get tested for various diseases at our clinics so that a necessary intervention can be made. Come in your numbers to receive assistance in our clinics because our doors are always open," said MEC Manzini.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health always strives to live up to its Vision of ensuring a Healthy Developed Society by serving the people of Mpumalanga with distinction, as demanded by Section 27 of the Constitution of the Republic.

The MEC introduced the medical doctors to the community today not only to effect that necessary shot in the arm of the healthcare system but also to properly align the department with the aspirations of the upcoming National Health Insurance, which calls for equitable healthcare services among all citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status.

The department remains steadfast, resolute and committed to serve the people with distinction and it will continue to invest in the people it serves, thus conforming to Priority 4 of government.

The MEC wished all the medical doctors well and urged the community to work cooperatively with the doctors and the clinic staff, to manifest a great deal of respect and to be free when accessing healthcare services at the facilities.

CONTINUING OUR NOBLE WORK

Today, 5 February 2026, we continued with our remarkable campaign of introducing medical doctors to our clinics as part of maximising the provision of primary healthcare services across the province.

Our focus for today was Govan Mbeki in the Gert Sibande District, where we started off at Paulinah Morapeli Community Health Centre and introduced Doctor ......

The great news is that with effect from tonight, the facility will go back to operating for 24 hours a day, given that the services were provisionally suspended in the past due to an unfortunate attack on the healthcare professionals by community members, and we urge the community to exercise a great deal of discipline by respecting our healthcare workers to avoid the situation of suspending night-duty services.

We then proceeded to Lebohang Community Health Centre and introduced Doctor Madikizela.

Joy, relief and gratitude were written all over the faces of community members as we introduced the medical doctors at the above mentioned facilities, respectively.

Our quest as the Mpumalanga Department of Health is to remain resolute in continuing to provide uncompromised quality healthcare services to the people of Mpumalanga, as summoned by Section 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

This programme is part of our bigger initiative as the department called Ezempilo Ebanwini, where we go at all lengths to accelerate and improve healthcare services in our facilities to ensure that the services that are being provided go beyond the level we have always known, because we are inspired by the need to be better than yesterday, to see people live longer and to see them consistently receiving adequate healthcare services.

Through this programme, we go to our facilities and evaluate how they are run, what challenges exist and what needs to be done to ensure that the provision of healthcare services go according to plan because our goal is to ensure that people receive the best possible service to such an extent that when the citizens of Mpumalanga think about our department, they must be preoccupied with positive and inspirational experiences only, which will be the outcomes of the unwavering efforts that we put in, whether through making ambulances readily available all the time or any other thing.

Again, we have made it a point that since we have community healthcare workers in our clinics, they must go house to house and check on the people, detect symptoms for various diseases, assist them in taking their medication and also monitoring the progress, thus helping them to live longer.

It is also worth mentioning that all the doctors that we have been introducing to our facilities since the beginning of this initiative are products of government investment, which sought to create our own professionals at no cost to them, thus making education accessible, fashionable and beneficial, as stipulated in the Freedom Charter.

As the country gears itself for the full roll-out of the National Health Insurance, as the department, we are already positioning ourselves to ensure that the initiative finds us ready and as a result, becomes a success, in line with our mandate of creating a platform for a Healthy Developed Society, and this we do, with the understanding that we cannot leave anyone behind.

We wish our medical doctors well, as they embark on their journey to serve the communities with professionalism, dignity and diligence, and we also urge the communities to be cooperative and use these services optimally.
