substance abuse (alcoholism and drug dependency) is part and parcel of the problems within each community. SANCA Lowveld is an organisation which aims to assist individuals, and their family members who are affected by substance abuse and need help to regain control over their lives by becoming fully functional members of the community again. Research had concluded the high prevalence between con

Due to the scourge and stigmatisation of both HIV and drug abuse (both being considered by society as a self-inflicted disease)- SANCA Lowveld provide professional intervention and assistance in a more confidential and private environment.

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our valued Board member and Treasurer, Mr Basil Anthony, who has served SANCA Lowveld with dedication since 2015.

Basil was known for his quiet strength, optimism, and practical, hands-on approach. He was deeply committed to our work, not only ensuring sound financial oversight, but also actively supporting our programmes, assisting with monitoring and evaluation, training other Board members, and helping to secure much-needed sponsorships.

He was a proactive and solution-driven individual who preferred action over words – always ready to step in, solve problems, and build meaningful connections in support of our mission.

His passing comes during a particularly difficult time for SANCA Lowveld, following the recent loss of our Vice-Chairperson, Mr Jan Skwambane. Basil’s presence, guidance, and unwavering support will be deeply missed.

We please extend our sincere condolences to his wife, Ellen, his sons, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

We at SANCA Lowveld are deeply saddened by the passing of our Vice Chair, Sikhoba Jan Skwambane.

Jan was more than a leader within our organization—he was a pillar of strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve. For 25 years, he faithfully served on our management board, most of that time as Vice Chair. His dedication to SANCA Lowveld was steadfast, and his leadership played a vital role in guiding our organization through the years.

He brought not only wisdom and direction to our office, but also genuine care and support that uplifted both staff and those in need. His belief in our mission and his passion for helping others made a meaningful difference in countless lives and strengthened our presence in the community.

Jan’s impact will be felt for many years to come. Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy will continue to inspire us in the work we do every day.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May we honor his memory by continuing the work in schools he was so passionate about.

Rest in peace, Jan. Your impact will never be forgotten.
