Which one sounds like you? πŸ‘‡

A) I eat well β€” but I can't lose weight
B) I feel tired after most meals
C) My cravings always take over

If you chose any of the above, insulin resistance might be worth looking into.

It is more common than most people think β€” and it responds really well to the right nutrition approach.

Eating less but still not losing weight?

It might not be about calories.

Insulin resistance is one of the most common β€” and most overlooked β€” reasons people hit a weight loss plateau.

And the frustrating part? Cutting food further often makes it worse.

In our latest blog post, we break down:

Living with diabetes does not mean living on a bland diet.

It means understanding what works for your body β€” and building a way of eating that is sustainable, not just technically "correct."

At RVA Dietitians in Nelspruit and White River, we work with people managing Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes to build eating plans that actually fit their lives.

Not a list of banned foods.

A real, practical plan.

Real talk: what do you do with fruit since your diagnosis? πŸ‘‡

A) I avoid it completely
B) I eat it but feel guilty
C) I still eat it and watch how I feel

Whichever you picked β€” there is no shame here.

Most people with diabetes are given a list of "no" foods and left to figure the rest out on their own. It is confusing, and it leads to a lot of unnecessary food fear.

The truth is, whole fruit can absolutely be part of a healthy diabetes eating plan. It is all about how, when, and what you pair it with.

"No fruit. No sugar. Nothing sweet."

That is what a lot of people hear after a diabetes diagnosis.

And while the intention is right, the advice is not quite accurate.

Whole fruit is not the same as refined sugar β€” and cutting it out completely could mean missing out on some of the most nutrient-dense foods available.

In our latest blog post, we break down:
-> Why not all sugars work the same way in your body
-> What glycemic load actually means for your plate
-> How to eat fruit without spiking your blood sugar

Your kidneys filter 180 liters of blood every single day. 🫘

Most people only think about kidney health after something goes wrong. But for patients with early-stage kidney disease β€” or those with diabetes and high blood pressure β€” what you eat right now is either protecting your kidneys or quietly putting them under strain.

The right renal diet can:

βœ”οΈ Slow the progression of kidney disease
βœ”οΈ Reduce blood pressure and fluid retention
βœ”οΈ Keep potassium and protein at safe levels
βœ”οΈ Improve your energy and quality of life

You don't have to figure this out alone β€” or trust Google with something this serious.

The team at RVA Dietitians in Nelspruit specialises in renal nutrition. We build eating plans around YOUR blood results, not a generic list.

Did you know that what you eat can either protect your kidneys β€” or quietly put them under strain?

Most people only think about kidney health after a diagnosis. But for anyone with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney disease, your diet matters right now.

Drop your answer in the comments:

πŸ… I had no idea diet was this important
πŸ…‘ My doctor has mentioned my kidney function
πŸ…’ I'm already trying to watch what I eat

No wrong answers β€” we read every comment.

If you answered A or B, it's worth having a conversation with a registered dietitian before your results change further.

Bloating. Cramping. Rushing to the bathroom. Feeling like you can't eat anything safely. 🫧

This is not normal β€” and it's not something you should keep managing alone.
