If youโ€™ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or lupus, you know the daily grind: stiff joints, unexpected flare-ups, and the constant search for relief.

But hereโ€™s something your rheumatologist might not have time to explain in detail: what you eat every day can either fuel inflammation or help fight it.

The science is fascinating โ€” thereโ€™s a direct connection between your gut health and your joints (called the gut-joint axis). When your gut is inflamed, those inflammatory signals travel to your joints and make things worse.

Our Story

WHO IS REON VAN AARDT?

Reon van Aardt - RD(SA), B.Sc Dietetics (UFS), M.Sc Dietetics (UFS)

Reon qualified at the University of the Free State in 2014. After graduation, he completed his community service year at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit, obtaining valuable experience in critical care, internal medicine, paediatrics and surgery. The following year he continued working in a hospital environment and private practice whilst commencing a Master of Science degree in Dietetics, which he finished in 2019 with a research dissertation on professional athletes.
