Do you know the ABCs of a cancerous mole?
βSorry folks, there is no such thing as a healthy tan,β says Dr Ayesha Omar, Dermatologist. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in South Africa, and early detection is key.
π Check your moles for the ABCDEs:
A β Asymmetry: Is one side uneven or differently shaped?
B β Border: Irregular or jagged edges?
C β Colours: Multiple shades?
D β Diameter: Over 6mm or growing fast?
E β Evolution: Has it changed, bled, or become itchy?
β οΈ Melanoma can develop from an existing mole or appear suddenly as a dark, unusual spot.
β
Check your moles regularly and see any qualified doctor at MediHub Nelspruit if you notice any changes.
π Testimonial:
"After a general checkup at MediHub, Dr Inge Van Dyk noticed a suspicious mole. A biopsy confirmed it was a cancerous melanoma. One week later, it was surgically removed. It was caught just in time. The team went above and beyond, Dr Inge was there every step of the way."
