Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Here are 3 fun facts about the heart & cardiovascular system that you may or may not know:
❤️The first sign of life begins with a heartbeat in an embryo around 3weeks after fertilisation.
❤️ An ECG is the measure of electric current through a heart, whilst an angiogram assesses the patency of blood vessels around the heart. Both are used to assess heart attacks (myocardial infarction).
❤️ There are 4 chambers in a heart- 2 ventricles and 2 atria (atrium is singular). ‘Ventricle’ is latin for, “little belly” & ‘Atrium’ is latin for, “entrance hall”.
