What an awesome morning! We had the pleasure of attending the Welcome Breakfast Fun Day for Medical Interns and Community Service Doctors at Riverside Medical Centre in Nelspruit.

What a great opportunity it was to connect with emerging medical professionals as well as senior medical professionals across the board and learn about the valuable support services available to them throughout their careers. The event was informative, welcoming, and perfectly positioned to strengthen networks within our healthcare community.

We truly appreciate the importance of collaboration across our sector, and we look forward to meeting many of these dedicated doctors again in the future as we continue to support compassionate, quality care for all our patients.

A new way of looking at suffering..

In this thoughtful piece, Dr Lauren O'Brien reflects on her own losses, practice, and learning after completing the PatchSA 9-month Comprehensive Course on Paediatric Pallaitive Care in 2025. She writes: "Palliative Care Doctors can learn all the skills and correct way of doing things which has been wonderful to learn. But if you don’t have the soft skills of compassion and empathy, or lack the intention to do better, you do your patients a disservice."

As 2025 draws to a close, we pause with deep gratitude to thank our incredible community β€” our donors, volunteers, partners, families, and supporters β€” who have stood with Nelspruit Hospice throughout the year.

Because of your generosity, compassion, and trust, we were able to walk alongside patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments, offering comfort, dignity, and care where it matters most: at home and in the heart of our community.

To our volunteers: thank you for giving your time, your presence, and your hearts.
To our donors and supporters: thank you for believing in our mission and making our work possible.
To the community of Nelspruit and surrounds: thank you for choosing kindness, again and again.

πŸŽ„ As we celebrate this special season, we wish you and your loved ones a Blessed Christmas, filled with peace, hope, and love.

✨ May 2026 be a year of health, compassion, and shared humanity for us all.

From all of us at Nelspruit Hospice β€” thank you for being part of our journey.
