More Communication tips to help you make the festive season inclusive for family and friends with hearing loss.

• Get Attention First: Before speaking, say their name or gently tap their arm to ensure you have their attention.
• Face the Person and Maintain Eye Contact: Do not shout across the room or from another room. Face them directly so they can see your face and lips clearly.
• Speak Clearly, Not Loudly: Shouting distorts words and can be uncomfortable for hearing aid users. Speak at a normal, slightly slower pace with clear articulation.
• Be Patient: Communication in noisy environments is tiring for those with hearing loss. Be patient and understand that they might need a break from constant conversation.
