Age related macular degeneration

With permission of the patient, we are sharing the following images taken at our practice.

The patient was diagnosed with Melanoma in his right eye.
"Uveal melanoma is a type of eye cancer in the uvea of the eye."
The affected eye only has 5% of vision on the periphery, all central vision os lost. Unfortunately they could not save the focus point of this eye.

This post is not to scare anyone but rather to motivate everyone to have a comprehensive eye examination. Early detection can in most cases prevent permanent or full vision loss.

Just a quick message to all our patients.

This coming week we have limited availability as we will be attending a health day on Wednesday (Atlantis) and then leaving for a congress in JHB from Friday to Sunday.
