➡️WHY?
The ‘Integrated School Health Policy’ advices that ALL learners should recieve an annual hearing screening to detect hearing loss as early as possible.

➡️EFFECTS OF HEARING LOSS AND/OR SPEECH DEFICITS ON DEVELOPMENT:
The presence of a hearing loss and speech deficits have negative effects on a child’s overall development and can lead to:
• Delayed speech and language skills
• Difficulties with reading and spelling
• Poor academic performance
• Attention and listening difficulties
• Behavioural difficulties
• Compromised self-esteem and confidence
• Poor social skills
