Iplay Occupational therapy is a paediatric practice situated in Middelburg Mpumalanga. We currently have two permanent occupational therapists at the practice. Danielle Humphris, owner and founder, and Natasha van der Westhuizen. We specialise in a variety of peadiatric treatment modalities, including Sensory Integration (SI), Neurodevelopmental approach (NDT), Solisten, IM, DIR Floortime, School readiness and Sandplay therapy.
We are very passionate about children, and helping children reach their full potential, and this page will be dedicated to inform and educate parents, teacher, and everyone who has a passion for children.
So, when does a child qualify for OT?
When to refer a child for Occupational Therapy:
Learners with attention and concentration difficulties
Children who canβt focus on a task at hand
A child who is easily distracted
Children who donβt sit still for long periods of time
Children who find it difficult to complete a task
Learners with sensory issues
A child who is bothered by clothing items
Children who appear clumsy or uncoordinated
Children who struggle to follow instructions or seem to miss out on
some verbal information
Children who are distracted by busy environments
A child who can be described as βa picky eaterβ
Children who canβt handle loud/noisy environments
Children who donβt not maintain good seat posture β leaning or arm or table
Children who donβt sit still, often rocking on chair or moving around on seat
Children who get overly excited during movement activities
Learners who struggle with anxiety and stress
Learners who have visual perceptual difficulties
