*The emotional impact of pain*

Pain is a very personal experience, along with the fact that each person has their own unique experience with the levels of pain they are able to endure

Societal factors can impact and affect pain such as age, gender, culture, beliefs, emotional response, prior experience, support system, access to care and health disparities.

Additionally changes in status, routine, employment, sleep disturbances all contribute to how well one can effectively minimise pain.

"Pain is influenced by emotions and the cycle of pain and emotions are interrelated"

https://www.hss.edu/conditions_emotional-impact-pain-experience.asp

For example when one is anxious or angry the muscles may tighten and cause further or increased pain. So it's very evident that pain management is more than just physical rehabilitation and medications.

Modalities such as:- counselling, reiki, rife, body talk, acupuncture, emotion code release, cranial sacral massage, reflexology, TRE, TENS and meditation can offer much balance to the emotions that are further creating an increase in tension and pain.

You have one life... You deserve to live it well and without pain ✨

*What are you doing to feed your soul*✨

We speak a lot about food and it's effects on your body, but what about thoughts and emotions? These can also impact the body in a very negative way!

Are you spending your days filled with positive thoughts or are negative thoughts influencing your behaviour?

If you look at the word "Emotion" - in quantum physics it means 'Energy in Motion', so when your thoughts are negative they effectively become like a stream of negative energy that flows into your nervous system causing imbalance.

Think of the days that you slept through your alarm and started off your day in chaos - didn't chaos then follow you?

So it's important to guard your thoughts every day 🌷

- start every morning with a meditation as this will set the tone of your day
- do mindful tasks throughout the day like sitting in the garden, playing with your pets, dancing to music - just be in the moment
- find a creative outlet
- when stress or negativity get you down - detach from the situation, go outside and breath!

Once you start making a concerted effort to be aware of your thoughts you will find it easier and easier to reframe them. Don't concentrate on trying to change the negative emotion though, instead increase a positive emotion!

Focus on something that brings you joy currently in your life, and by doing this you will change the emotion into something positive and uplifting!

*Taking care of your adrenals*

We all live with some sort of stress and our adrenals assist us in our ability to cope with whatever life throws at us therefore it's important to take care of these glands to ensure our body's protected.

Some signs that show your adrenals are not coping are:-

* fatigue
* body aches
* nervousness
* low blood pressure
* sleep disturbances
* digestive issues
* cravings
* weight gain
* hormonal imbalance

To assist with rejuvenating your adrenals you can begin by :-

* reducing your stress
* meditating
* getting enough sleep
* removing inflammatory foods
* using supplements like vitamin B & D, magnesium and zinc

Adrenal health is just as important as cardiac health - don't ignore the signs your body sends! 💫

The benefits that are found in the humble artichoke are quite astounding especially if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, hyperglycemia or kidney / gall stones. Artichokes aid to heal internal scar tissue and are incredible at protecting the body from consistent exposure to any forms of radiation!

"Energetically, artichokes are considered revitalizers that aid in clearing emotional and physical "sluggishness". They represent a protective exterior shielding a soft heart, symbolizing vulnerability, nourishment, and detoxification" - traditionally associated with love, fertility and protection 🤍

*Steamed Artichokes*

*Ingredients*

6 large artichokes or 10 small artichokes

*Honey-thyme dressing*

1 ½ tbsps raw honey
2 tbsps freshly squeezed lemon juice
¼ tsp mustard powder
½ small clove of garlic, finely minced or grated
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves or ½ tsp dried thyme

*Directions*

*To prepare the artichokes*

Remove any leaves from the stem (not the petal-like leaves of the artichoke itself) and peel off the stem’s woody exterior. Trim the end of the stem, and rub with a lemon segment to prevent browning. Cut off the top quarter of the artichoke and rub the cut artichoke leaves with lemon. Snip off the pointy tips of remaining artichoke leaves.

Fill a pot with about 3 or more inches of water, and place a steamer basket into the pot. Steam artichokes, covered, for 35 to 45 minutes, until the stem is fork-tender and outer leaves are easily peeled.

Allow the artichokes to cool, then slice in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out the choke. Arrange the steamed artichokes, cut side up, on a plate.

If making the Honey-Thyme Dressing, whisk or blend the honey, lemon juice, mustard powder, minced garlic, and thyme leaves in a medium bowl until smooth.

To serve, drizzle each artichoke half with the desired dipping sauce. Serve immediately.

Enjoy 😋

Green peas are nutrient dense and filled with a variety of healing elements including vitamin B's, zinc, iron and calcium 🫛🫛🫛 Green peas are also incredible at reducing inflammation, regulating weight, supporting your heart and aiding your cognitive functions 💪🏻

*Oven-Roasted Green Peas*

*Ingredients*

• 2 cups (300 g) frozen green peas
• 1 tablespoon avocado oil
• Pinch of salt and any other spices ie: chilli flakes, paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, dried mint. etc...

*Directions*

Preheat the oven to 180°C

Defrost the peas by running under water in a colander then spread them out on a kitchen towel. Gently pat dry to remove as much excess water as possible or, if you have time, simply leave them to dry on their own (15 minutes if already thawed / a couple of hours from frozen)

Drizzle the oil over a baking sheet. Add the green peas, sprinkle with salt, and shake gently to create an even layer. Roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, shaking the pan regularly.

Other flavours: After 15 minutes or so, feel free to add additional seasoning such as chilli flakes, paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, or dried mint. Shake to coat and return to the oven for the remaining cooking time.

You'll notice that the peas on the outside of the pan cook more quickly than those in the middle, so it's important to move them around.

At the 20-minute mark, check the peas to see how they're doing and continue to roast for up to 10 more minutes if you want them crispier (being careful not to overcook).

Once crispy, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before eating.

Enjoy 😋

*Where is your capacity today?*

We each run at different capacity levels at different times - these depend on our current circumstances, our internal beliefs along with our external environment ✨ And it's so important to check in and see how much you are able to give, as well as how much more you can take on 🫶🏻

So what does your capacity tank look like today?

For today's I'm including a lovely, brief meditation to help refill your tank 🌈
