🌟 Meet Letlotlo “Blessing” Moleko – A Young Athlete With a Higher Calling.
Blue Saddle Ranches resident Letlotlo Moleko, 18 years old, is a two-time Craven Week rugby player for the Golden Lions and a Lions Cricket representative at the SA Junior Cricket Championship — but his story goes far deeper than the stats. He’s a young man driven by faith, shaped by family, and anchored in purpose.
Born and raised in Gauteng, Letlotlo grew up in a strong, supportive home. “My parents did a great job raising me,” he says with gratitude. “They were always involved in our lives, and their guidance has been everything.”
Letlotlo’s spiritual journey began early — in fact, it started just moments after he was born. In a moment his family now affectionately calls his “Simba moment,” his father gently lifted him up to the sky and dedicated him to the Lord — a quiet, powerful act of faith that mirrored the iconic scene from The Lion King. “I don’t remember it, of course,” he laughs, “but I’ve heard the story so many times that it’s become part of who I am.” That moment set the tone for a life led by God’s purpose.
At age 13, Letlotlo made a personal decision to follow Christ and became a born-again Christian. Since then, his relationship with Jesus has only deepened — shaped by the strong foundation of KCC Church, and the mentorship of his father, who also serves as a youth pastor. “KCC became a second home,” he says. “It’s where I grew spiritually, where I found belonging.”
His path to rugby started by chance — placed in a school where soccer wasn’t an option, and rugby ruled. What began as a reluctant attempt quickly turned into passion after his first (very questionable!) tackle. Years of hard work and prayer eventually led to national recognition. “Talent alone isn’t enough,” he reflects. “It takes discipline, humility, support from your family — and alignment with God’s plan.”
One of his most powerful memories at Craven Week wasn’t a play or a try, but a Sunday team worship service on tour — a reminder of why he plays and who he plays for.
Cricket, on the other hand, sharpened his mental endurance and patience. "You're standing in the sun from 9 to 5 — it tests your temper, your discipline, and your heart," he says. Inspired by greats like AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, Letlotlo brings that same calm intensity to the game.
Balancing two elite-level sports is no easy task, but he manages it with time management, prayer, and a reminder that it’s not about him. “My motivation comes from knowing my life is meant to glorify God.”
To those looking up to him, he offers this advice:
“Get to work. Your talent is not enough.
Don’t be selfish — it’s not all about you.
Consider God and others before doing something for yourself or to yourself.
And control your curiosity and desires, or they will control you.”
Letlotlo is more than an athlete — he’s a role model, a leader, and a light for his generation.
A proud BSR resident with a heart for God and a fire for purpose, he’s showing that true greatness comes from staying humble, grounded, and guided by something far bigger than yourself.
