A Heartfelt Thank You

In a world where kindness can sometimes feel scarce, we are reminded that compassion still exists through the unwavering support of TygerBurger. Time and time again, they have stood beside Cheryl Lyn's Rescue Organisation, helping us share our journey, our struggles, and most importantly—the voices of our precious furkids who cannot speak for themselves.

Right now, we find ourselves facing one of the most uncertain chapters of our lives. The farm that has been a safe haven, a place of healing, love, and second chances, may no longer be ours to call home. Every corner of this land holds a story—of rescue, of survival, of hope restored.

Our animals have known safety here. They have learned to trust again, to wag their tails, to feel love after hardship. The thought of losing this sanctuary is heartbreaking beyond words.

We are holding onto hope with everything we have—that somehow, we will find a way to remain on the farm, to continue giving these innocent souls the life they deserve. They depend on us… and we depend on the kindness of people who care. Thank you to all the Sponsors why has donated towards premises, so far we have raised R5 925. 🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: TLC Outreach Projects 🌟

This week’s highlight? Chair exercises with a twist! 🎈

Thanks to TLC Outreach Projects and Soretha Winder , our residents enjoyed a fun-filled session using balloons — bringing plenty of laughter, movement, and smiles all around. Who knew exercise could be this much fun? 🤍

A special thank you to Colleen Petersen for her continued kindness and dedication. Your presence truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents.

💡 DID YOU KNOW? 💡

Huis Zonnekus is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 011 891) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930 006 348), and we have our very own charity shop operating right from our garage! 🏡💛

Currently, we care for 86 residents. While some receive support from their families – whether through visits, financial assistance, or other means – many depend entirely on us for all their daily needs.

To ensure we provide the best possible care in an environment of love, dignity, and comfort, we rely on funding for essential items such as diapers, toiletries, and resident activities. This is why our fundraising efforts, including our charity shop, are so important.

🛍️ We gladly welcome all pre-loved items, including:
• Kitchenware 🍽️
• Clothing & shoes 👗👟
• Toys 🧸
• Bedding & curtains 🛏️
• Furniture 🪑
• Electronics 📺
• And so much more!

Any donations not directly used in our Home are sold in our charity shop, helping us generate much-needed funds to continue caring for our residents and uphold maintenance needs.

We remain truly grateful for the ongoing support from our community — every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. 💖

🐰💛 Let’s make Easter special for our seniors 💛🐰

We’re proud to share and support this beautiful initiative by Circle of Friends — Easter for the Elderly. Huis Zonnekus is one of the beneficiary homes, and each of our residents will receive a special Easter hamper thanks to your kindness. 🧓🏽👵🏽

Time is running out ⏰ — can you help bring a little joy to a senior this Easter?

🎁 What to donate:
• ±4 marshmallow Easter eggs or similar chocolates
OR
• A box of Easter eggs (to be shared among residents)

Please pack items in a clear ziplock/plastic bag. You’re welcome to add a personal touch with ribbon or decorations 💝

You can donate funds and the team will shop on your behalf (receipts will be kept for you).

🍀 St Patrick’s Day at Huis Zonnekus 🍀

We got into the spirit today celebrating St Patrick’s Day, with touches of green and gold brightening up our Home 💚✨

Did you know? St Patrick’s Day started as a celebration of Ireland’s patron saint, but today it’s all about bringing people together and celebrating joy, luck, and a sense of community 🍀

Our residents enjoyed a hearty Irish stew, prepared by our wonderful caterers Feedem, and a few residents and staff even joined in by dressing to match the theme — which made the day even more special 😊. A special thanks to Soekie and the Feedem team for always going the extra mile with the decor😍
