We recently facilitated a Girl Power session at Hindle High School.

The session focused on building confidence, understanding healthy relationships, and strengthening awareness around safety and consent.

Structured, school-based interventions like this are key to reducing vulnerability and equipping girls with the tools to navigate real-life challenges.

We attended a fundraising and sustainability workshop presented by Synergei in partnership with EMpower—The Emerging Markets Foundation.

Looking forward to applying key learnings around strengthening our organisational positioning, navigating the current fundraising landscape, and reframing how we tell our stories.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside other grantees and to continue building more sustainable ways to support our work and expand our impact.

We are excited to be attending the NACG National Alliance for Children's Grief (NACG) 29th Annual Symposium in San Antonio, Texas in June 2026.
Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this important gathering of over 500 professionals working in children’s grief support.
As we continue to formalise an International Collaboration for Children’s Grief together with Winston's Wish/Child Bereavement UK, this will be a valuable opportunity for Khululeka Grief Support to connect with like-minded organisations, share learning and strengthen global partnerships.

Our Wellness Hubs play a vital role in the work we do. By partnering with schools, we are able to bring support directly into the environments where children spend most of their time. These hubs become more than just a space, they become a place of comfort, safety and belonging.

Together with schools, we are creating environments where emotional wellbeing is prioritised and where no child has to navigate grief alone.

🦋Every conversation matters. Every safe space counts.

We were invited to serve as a panellist at the DG Murray Trust’s First Wednesday session in April. The discussion, themed “Integrating Violence Prevention into the Work We Already Fund,” created a space for meaningful dialogue on strengthening violence prevention across the ecosystem. We shared insights on the critical role schools play as protective spaces and how wellness hubs support prevention and early intervention for children. Thank you to DGMT for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation.

We attended the NMCF Knowledge & Learning workshop in Johannesburg this week. It has been an inspiring few days collaborating with the other Girl Power partners. Together, we are reinforcing our commitment to preventing violence against children and building safer, more resilient communities across South Africa.

GBV remains an ongoing crisis in our country. At Khululeka, we believe in equipping caregivers with the knowledge and tools needed to support and uplift our communities.
Last week, we trained 31 GBV ambassadors, community workers, and NGOs from Delft through our Girl Power programme, strengthening the vital work they do every day.
Together, we continue to build safer, stronger communities. 💜

Meet Khululeka Grief Support (📍South Africa 🇿🇦)

Khululeka’s mission is to support the emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents who are grieving or living with trauma, particularly in communities affected by poverty, violence, and loss. They work to ensure that children are not left to cope alone, but are provided with safe spaces, trusted relationships, and practical tools to process their experiences and build resilience.

Khululeka delivers evidence-based, group-based programs within schools and communities, including the Abangane Grief Support Programme for children and adolescents, Girl Power groups focused on prevention of gender-based violence, and psychosocial support initiatives for HIV prevention with children and adolescents. Through its work, Khululeka contributes to safer, more supportive school and community environments, where children are better able to heal, learn, and thrive.

“With this Kindness in Community grant, we will expand our partnership with the Department of Education by delivering psychosocial support through Wellness Hubs in communities identified as the most underserved and vulnerable. These Hubs will provide safe, accessible spaces where children affected by grief, trauma, and violence can receive structured group support and appropriate referrals.”
