Khululeka Grief Support

Khululeka Grief Support Khululeka Grief Support is a Non-Profit Organisation based in Cape Town.

We focus on mental health support programmes for at risk children and teens and training of those working with them

During our sessions, children take part in activities that help them cope with grief and loss. They have the chance to express their feelings, write messages to their loved ones, and learn ways to let go while holding on to precious memories. These activities provide a safe and supportive space where children can manage their grief, find comfort and begin to heal.

At Khu, we believe no child should walk the journey of grief alone. Our Abangane sessions provide a safe, caring space for children and their peers to share and heal together. Through guided activities, children find comfort in knowing they are not alone and that their feelings are valid. Together, they learn healthy ways to cope, remember their loved ones, and build resilience for the future.

Last week Friday, we hosted our final Teachers Workshop at Rosendaal High School in Delft. These workshops aim to equip educators with practical skills to respond to gender-based violence, strengthen referral knowledge, and support their own wellbeing. They are also a space to affirm and appreciate the vital role teachers play in guiding learners and shaping communities. Please like, leave a comment of encouragement, and follow our page for more updates on our work.

Two of our beneficiaries recently attended a Digital Wellness event hosted by the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund . The event included a Moot Court activity and important conversations about online safety, the realities of cyberbullying, and the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence. Opportunities like these empower young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world with confidence, resilience, and responsibility.

Last week we had sessions with learners at Leiden High, creating a safe space for reflection, sharing, and building resilience. 🌱Through our sessions, young people are encouraged to recognise their strengths, support one another, and develop important life skills that help them navigate daily challenges. Seeing the courage and openness of these learners reminds us why creating supportive spaces in schools matters so much. πŸ’œ

Last week at Athwood Primary, we held an Abangane group support session with learners. The children had the opportunity to share their feelings, support one another, and take part in activities that help them cope with loss in a safe and caring space. It is always inspiring to see how children connect and find comfort when they realise, they are not alone in their grief journey. Together, we continue to create spaces where healing and hope are possible.
