This year’s Wellness Week centred on a powerful idea: that giving is a form of self-care.
We often think of self-care as something we do for ourselves—but research shows that kindness, generosity, and connection are just as vital to our wellbeing. 💛🩵🩷
As part of our Wellness Week activities, we created postcards filled with positive messages for each other—small acts of kindness to brighten someone’s day and strengthen our sense of connection. 💌
Whether it’s your time, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture, giving has powerful emotional and physical benefits—for both the giver and the receiver. 🤝

Proud to support this life-changing mission in Ethiopia, partnering with amazing people who share our goal of making a real difference.
From 2–8 May, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, the Dawoodi Bohra community conducted a surgical outreach in Addis Ababa—providing 317 free surgeries to those in need. ⭐️🚀

Volunteer surgeons from India, Kenya, and Tanzania performed general, laparoscopic, orthopaedic, urologic, cardiac, ENT, and eye surgeries—some for the first time in Ethiopia.

The surgical teams were supported by local staff and volunteers, including our very own Francois from Envision Africa, who assisted the ophthalmology team using the Oertli Instrumente AG CataRhex 3. A truly humbling experience to witness the compassion, collaboration, and shared purpose. 🙌 🙌

These initiatives remind us of, and fuel our purpose: to enable vision.

A timeless tribute to ophthalmic precision ✨
An eye anatomy poster is a familiar sight in most ophthalmologists' rooms - a classic reference where science meets art. Two years ago, we set out to create one that was not only anatomically precise but also a true reflection of our brand.

This journey required patience and dedication, and to ensure accuracy, we had the privilege of collaborating with two esteemed experts, Prof. Linda Visser and Prof. Polla Roux, who generously reviewed and curated the scientific details of this work. 🙌

The result? A beautifully crafted poster that we’ve been delighted to gift to some of our valued customers. It was, after all created with them in mind. 💙

Our team considers itself well-travelled, with a reputation for working in remote places, but this journey took us far off the beaten track. St Helena, one of the world's most remote inhabited islands, has been an incredible experience.
We had the privilege of installing a new Faros at General Hospital in Jamestown and providing hands-on training to the surgical staff. This past week, we supported the first phaco surgeries.
The Oertli Faros proved its capabilities in the skilled hands of Dr. Van der Colff, effortlessly tackling dense cataracts. Among the patients was an inspiring woman in her 90s!
For this close-knit community of just 4,000 people, access to cataract surgery is truly transformative, bringing clear vision and a brighter future to many.

This year, Wellness Week was all about finding our happy balance. We took a break from our busy schedules and picked up paintbrushes, creating a team masterpiece that will enliven our office for years to come. 🎨 It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes, stepping away from routine and engaging in something meditative and relaxing can be just the thing to help find your balance after a week of work. Whether it’s reading, gardening, taking up a hobby, or simply going for a walk, these healthy activities can help us find our happy balance. 🏡
