Originally from the West Coast of Canada, I now call Cape Town home and my physical practice is based on a small farm in Noordhoek. I offer both in-person and virtual consults to clients depending on their preference and location. Vitamin C helps enhance iron absorption—especially non-heme iron from plant-based foods—by converting it into a more absorbable form. On the flip side, calcium can compete with iron for absorption in the gut, which means pairing high-calcium foods or supplements with iron-rich meals might reduce how much iron your body takes in.

Trying to support male fertility? What you eat could make a big difference🧬

There's growing evidence that anti-inflammatory diets (like the Mediterranean diet) can help improve s***m count and motility. These diets are rich in omega 3's, anti-oxidants and whole foods that help reduce inflammation-a key contributor to male infertility. 🍣

On the flip side, a pro-inflammatory diet (high in processed meats, refined carbohydrates and trans fats) can do the opposite-increasing oxidative stress and lowering s***m quality. SO choosing anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense foods is a simple strategy that may ultimately support male reproductive health🌱

Not all foods fuel fertility. Alcohol, trans fats, sugar, artificial sweeteners and excess caffeine can mess with hormones, egg quality, and your chances of conceiving. If you're trying to get pregnant, it might be time to rethink what's on your plate (and in your cup)..!
