➋⓿➋➎ — Looking back on this year, I’m reminded that not every season teaches us loudly. Some lessons arrive in the pauses, the detours, the days where we were simply getting through.

This year taught me about strength that looks like patience, trust that grows when control is taken away, and the quiet gift of people who show up when it matters most.

As we step into a new year, may we pause long enough to understand the one we’re leaving behind — and move forward with clarity instead of pressure.

Dis maklik om te d**k dat “meer leer” altyd die antwoord is, maar dikwels is dit die klein goedjies wat die grootste verskil maak vir fokus, energie en emosies.

😴 𝟭. 𝗚𝗼𝗲𝗶𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗮𝗽
Slaap is die groot geheim vir beter fokus, geheue en bui.
👉 Help deur ’n rustige aandroetine te skep

🚶‍♀️ 𝟮. 𝗕𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗳
Baie sport stop gedurende eksamentyd — maar moenie dat beweging heeltemal verdwyn nie. Vars lug, sonlig en beweging verhoog serotonien (jou “happy hormone”) en verbeter bloedvloei na die brein.
👉 Selfs net ’n kort stap, fietsrit of 10 minute bal skop kan wonderwerke doen.

🥦 𝟯. 𝗘𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗱
Die brein hou van goeie brandstof!
Vermy suiker- en kafeïenpieks wat jou energie laat val soos ’n suikerval.
👉 Fokus op:
• Proteïen (hoender, eiers, tuna, jogurt)
• Goeie vette (avokado, neute, visolie)
• Kompleks koolhidrate (bruin brood, hawermout, vrugte)
• Genoeg water!

Children aren’t always great at saying, “Mom, something’s sore.” Sometimes, a limp, less appetite, or refusing to play can say more than words ever could.

This is a reminder to keep an eye on how your child moves, plays, and grows. Their bones and joints are still developing — and things like infections, injuries, or vitamin deficiencies can cause long-term issues if ignored.

👀 Keep watch for:

- Pain or swelling in a joint or limb
- Limping or avoiding certain movements
- Fever, redness, or warmth around a joint
- Knock knees or other visible changes

✅ Fact: Parenting doesn’t cause ADHD. Supportive parents, however, play a huge role in helping kids manage it well.

🚨 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 – 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

From January to the end of July, South Africa has recorded 590 laboratory-confirmed measles cases.

📍 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀?

The highest numbers are in Gauteng - 409
Children 5–9 years old are the most affected

⚠️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸?
Low vaccination coverage has created an immunity gap, leaving many children vulnerable.

➡️ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘀?
One case can infect 12–18 people who are not immunised.

🩺 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘀?
Look out for fever and rash, plus one or more of these:

Conjunctivitis (red eyes)
Coryza (runny nose)
Cough

🧪 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴:

A blood test (IgM) should be taken; IgM shows up about 3 days after the rash starts.
Early on, PCR testing (throat swab or urine) is useful to avoid false negatives.
Labs like Ampath will notify doctors of all positive results.
