Incident report

On Friday at approx 3pm the Navic ANPR triggered an alert in multiple zones (Clare estate/Overport) vehicle in question was a charcoal grey Hyundai grand i10 BY*****ZN, wanted on Durban North Cas ***/2025.

Viper Protection unit and stealth tactical armed response units was operating crime prevention duties within the vicinity of clare estate and Sydenham when we received multiple triggers of the above wanted vehicle via our ANPR cameras, a search was initiated for the vehicle at all known hot spots, whilst our members conducted the search for about an hour and almost calling the search off, the Vehicle was suddenly spotted at the Atrium mall by VPU01 Response unit, the suspects immediately knew they were spotted and a high speed chase had started, the vehicle had collided with a number of vehicles trying to evade the ARO, suspects Shot at the ARO whilst driving and trying to getaway, our ARO responded to the suspects accordingly. The chase led all the way into the Mayville/Cato manor area where the vehicle had a blow out and came to a stand still, the 3 suspects abandoned the vehicle and then fled into the settlement. Unfortunately the suspects had gotten away.

The vehicle was recovered and handed over to Col Housten from Cato manor SAPS.

Success report

At approx 11:38 Members from Stealth Tactical had been activated for a wanted suspect on Hulston rd clare estate, Suspect was apparently wanted for multiple theft incidents of copper pipes in the area, CF4U Patrollers of the sector mobilized as well to assist, a long search for the suspect was conducted by the members as the suspect was running and hiding through the dense bushes of the area, A unit from Viper Protection Unit was activated shortly after. After some time searching for the suspect and almost giving up, the suspect was spotted running out of the bush near a taxi rank and got into the taxi, the taxi was intercepted and suspect was swiftly apprehended, all stolen items was found in his possession, Scene and suspect was handed over to Syd SAPS.

*Scenario*
Members received an Information about the vehicle that was used in a business robbery as per Syd Cas:77/10/2024 being spotted at Kennedy Road in Clare Estate area. Members held observation of the occupants in the vehicle as it was near informal settlement. Two suspects who match the description as per cctv footages were able to be apprehended as the vehicle was moving on elf place. With further investigation, exhibits that were taken in a business robbery were recovered as well as two gas guns used during the business robbery. Vehicle and exhibits seized were entered on Saps13/1044/2024.

Approximately 09:00, information was received of a suspicious group of males hanging around a business premises in the Clare Estate area. from Viper Protection Unit together with members from Stealth Tactical responded to the location. Upon further investigation, the suspicious males confirmed that they were with a vehicle. A request for a vehicle check registration check was done for that vehicle and it was confirmed that the registration did not match the Description (False Plates). The vehicle was then intercepted on Clare Road, Clare Estate by Members from Viper Protection Unit and Stealth Tactical. SAPS was Dispatched to the location of the intercepted vehicle the vehicle was handed over to Sydenham SAPS.

At approx just before 3pm there was an incident of attempted theft at a store on crescent Street, an altercation broke out between the shop owner and the suspect, community members and members from Crescent Response assisted as well as the car guards, Urban Security was alerted and stepped in to assist, suspect managed to evade the members and ran down View street where he was intercepted and successfully apprehended by Viper Security , the suspect was handed over to Urban Defense and was later placed under arrest by Mayville SAPS.
It was further also discovered that the suspect had thrown a set of keys and bank cards at the time of apprehension, Keys and bank card was handed to SAPS which will be booked in the SAP13.

At approx just before 6pm an alert was circulated by the members of a hijacked vehicle, Our off duty patrol member received the tracking location of the vehicle, immediate response was made to the location of the said vehicle, the vehicle was successfully recovered in Kwamashu, upon arrival the suspects fled the property where the vehicle was kept and in the process of getting stripped, scene was secured and handed over to SAPS members.

Operation success:

On Monday the 23rd day of October 2023 at 21:50 we received an activation from Tracker SA of a big boy motorcycle on Coronia Road, Cato Crest Shack settlement. On the same day at 21:53 we noticed three African males pushing the bike down towards a stairway. Upon the suspects seen us they left the motorcycle and fled in different directions. The 2 African males fled into the bushes and river behind the shacks and two Dog vehicles responded to assist ( W/O K Shunmugam and Hugo with their crews to walk spoor to no avail. The one suspect that was chased by Constable Moodley unfortunately fell down a 3 to 4 meter staircase and sustained a fractured femur.
The motorcycle bearing reg number ND***** was recovered via Sydenham CAS: ****10/2023, carjacking and att murder. A further case of Section 36 was opened via Cato Manor CAS: ***10/2023.

An unfortunate event that unfolded this afternoon at 131 Earlhaig rd.

Request for assistance came via the Crescent Response team, a female believed to be the wife of the suspect, was stabbed and unfortunately was declared p4, suspect was arrested.
