WHY MASSAGE?
🔹The build-up of toxic substances can be broken down and eliminated by regular massage, reducing muscle fatigue and stiffness, particularly after exercising.
🔹Improved circulation through massage takes the pressure off the arteries and veins, accelerating the flow of blood through the system providing relief for poor circulation and cardiac problems. The heartbeat strengthens, the rate of the heartbeat decreases, and high blood pressure is reduced.
🔹Fluid from swelling is transported via the lymphatic system. If not moved on quickly it becomes semi-solid and too thick to pass into lymph vessels. It then sticks to surrounding tissues (muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments) and forms what is known as ‘adhesions’. If adhesions form in a joint, movement can be restricted permanently. Massage encourages lymphatic circulation and the swift disposal of toxic substances.
🔹Massage promotes the peristaltic activity, (wave like motion) which assists the colon with the removal of waste material from the body, combating constipation. It strengthens the muscular walls of the intestines and abdomen and stimulates the secretion of digestive juices from the liver, pancreas, stomach, and intestines.
🔹Massage promotes the release of endorphins which creates a general feeling of wellbeing.
