Couldn't agree more.
Quiet strength requires discipline.
As a leader in sport I always had to set the example and lead from the front with brute force.
Now I realise that my leadership has changed and I now lead with sympathy and empathy rather than getting physical. To be honest with you, I find it incredibly hard at times. There are days when the old version of me wishes I could just "get physical" to solve a problem or push a point across. But the reality is that real influence in this phase of my life comes from slowing down, listening, and understanding the person across the table. It’s a much quieter kind of strength, and it requires a lot more discipline than a tackle ever did.
I’m still a work in progress, and I’m still learning that being "firm" doesn't have to mean being "loud." It’s about the shift from leading the charge to holding the space for your team to thrive.
