What is teledermatology?
It is an online dermatology service. All the same principles and methodologies apply to an online consultation as would when conducting an in-person consultation. The major difference is - it can be done remotely using readily available technology. You don’t even need to leave your home and you can make your submission anytime, day or night.
How will it work?
1. Simply make a booking and fill in our online questionnaire and upload a few quality images taken by a smartphone / digital camera
2. Make payment via PayFast and within 24hrs from the appointment time, Dr Martin Du Toit will be able to provide you with professional advice and a diagnosis if possible.
Is it accurate?
If you think about it, dermatology is especially well-suited to telemedicine and has been proven as such. By utilising his decades’ worth of experience and incorporating modern technology, you can rest assured that Dr Martin du Toit will still be providing you with expert service. He meticulously reviews every submission as he would with any in-person consultation.
It has been established that around 70% of cases can be diagnosed using teledermatology. In some cases, even slightly better outcomes have been reported as opposed to traditional consultations.
Dr Martin Du Toit will provide you with professional advice and a diagnosis if possible.
Should an in-person consultation (IPC) at Paarl Medical Centre be deemed necessary, the amount paid will be credited to your account and an IPC will be scheduled as and when possible with no additional consultation fees to be charged.
What is the consultation fee?
My online consultation (Teledermatology) fee is R750. Payment is by Instant EFT via PayFast upon booking.
My in-person consultation fee is R850. Payment is by Cash or Credit Card on the day of the consultation.
Any procedures done will have additional fees.
