Emollients are a MUST in managing eczema! They help repair and protect the skin barrier, locking in moisture to keep your skin soft, smooth, and calm. By creating a protective layer, emollients help reduce dryness, irritation, and flare-ups, making a world of difference for those with eczema. Use them daily—especially after bathing—on damp skin to seal in moisture and soothe inflammation. Consistency is key for keeping eczema at bay.

Understanding Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)

What is AUB?
AUB refers to bleeding from the uterus that is irregular in volume, duration, or timing, often outside of normal menstrual cycles. It can be a sign that something isn’t quite right, and understanding the causes is key to finding a solution.

The PALM-COEIN Classification

Causes of AUB are categorized into two groups:
Structural and Non-structural causes.

PALM (Structural Causes):

• Polyp
• Adenomyosis
• Leiomyoma (Fibroids)
• Malignancy or hyperplasia

COEIN (Non-structural Causes):

• Coagulopathy (Bleeding disorders)
• Ovulatory dysfunction
• Endometrial
• Iatrogenic (Medications, devices)
• Not yet classified

If you’re experiencing abnormal uterine bleeding, don’t ignore it. It could be a sign of an underlying condition that needs attention. Always consult a healthcare professional to find the best treatment and care.

Protect Your Future: Get the HPV Vaccine 💉

Did you know that in South Africa, HPV vaccination is now part of the school program? This is a significant step towards safeguarding our children’s health against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to various cancers later in life.

For those who missed the school vaccination program, don’t worry! You can still get vaccinated privately. Two of the most common vaccines available are Gardasil and Cervarix.

Why get vaccinated?

•Prevents Cancer: HPV can lead to cervical, a**l, and other types of cancers.
•Safe and Effective: These vaccines have been extensively tested and are highly effective in preventing HPV infections.
•Early Protection: It’s best to get vaccinated before becoming sexually active, but it’s never too late to protect yourself.

How to get vaccinated: visit your general practitioner and ask them about available options!

Stay protected and encourage others to do the same! Share this information with your friends and family to help spread awareness.

Understanding Musculoskeletal Health During Menopause

Did you know that over 70% of women experience musculoskeletal symptoms during menopause? As estrogen levels drop, symptoms like joint pain, muscle loss, and decreased bone density can arise. But don’t worry, understanding these changes can help you manage them effectively!

What You Need to Know:

1.Oestrogen helps regulate inflammation. Its decline can lead to increased joint pain and conditions like arthritis.
2.Oestrogen supports muscle health. Post-menopause, women can experience sarcopenia (muscle loss) and decreased strength. Resistance training and proper nutrition are key to maintaining muscle health.
3.Reduced estrogen leads to decreased bone density, increasing the risk of osteoporosis. Calcium, vitamin D, and weight-bearing exercises can help keep your bones strong.
4.Healthy lifestyle choices, including balanced nutrition and regular exercise, can mitigate many menopausal symptoms and improve overall well-being.

Tips for Managing Musculoskeletal Health:

•Incorporate strength training and weight-bearing exercises into your routine.
•Ensure your diet is rich in calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium.
•Talk to your doctor about supplements that might help, such as vitamin D and calcium.
•Regular check-ups with your healthcare provider can help manage symptoms early.

Embrace this new phase with confidence and take charge of your health.
