Want to lift heavier weights without risking shoulder injury? 💪 According to Men’s Fitness, the key lies in smarter training, not just harder effort. Strengthening your rotator cuff, improving mobility, and perfecting your form can make all the difference.

As an upper limb surgeon, I often see patients who’ve pushed too hard without proper preparation, leading to painful injuries like rotator cuff tears or shoulder impingement. The good news? Many of these injuries are preventable with the right approach.

Here are 3 tips to train smarter:
1️⃣ Warm up properly: Dynamic stretches and light resistance exercises prepare your shoulders for heavy lifting.

Pain on the outside of your elbow that radiates down your forearm? You might be dealing with tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)—a condition caused by overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons. Despite its name, you don’t have to play tennis to experience it!

Common symptoms include:
✅ Pain over the outside of the elbow, often worsening with gripping or lifting.
✅ Pain that may spread down the forearm to the wrist.
✅ Weakness in grip strength.

Initial treatment focuses on:
1️⃣ Rest: Avoid activities that aggravate the pain.
2️⃣ Analgesia: Over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage discomfort.
3️⃣ Physiotherapy: Strengthening and stretching exercises can promote healing.

If symptoms persist, a corticosteroid injection may be considered to reduce inflammation. In cases where conservative treatments fail, surgery may be necessary to relieve pain and restore function.
