I have benefited from going to hydrotherapy. This amazing facility is accessible and run by an experienced physiotherapist Stacey Aires Aquatic exercise and therapy. This facility is In Glenhazel which is near to Linksfield, Greenstone, Lyndhurst , Bramley and Edenvale . For those curious who live a bit further, I honestly feel it’s worth the commute

I had the best time on this outreach. I worked alongside a formidable team and met and chatted to some incredible parents, goggos and grandfathers while they waited patiently for their children to be seated in a new buggie. A humbling experience coming from working in the private sector, where I often work alongside speech therapists when caring for those with chewing or swallowing problems, to the public sector where there seem to be very few therapists to do assessments. I realise many of our community dietetic colleagues face some real challenges providing care where the realities of social determinants of health like lack of access to transport may be a reason why people fail to attend follow up visits . Hopefully those that received buggies can now access clinics more easily and get the care they deserve and need. Thank you Marilyn Herson Bassin for inviting me to be part of this fantastic initiative.

Managing mental well being is a very important part of the health journey whether its recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or coming to terms with the challenges like supporting ageing parents. Working with experienced social workers makes the process so much easier.
