We are all doing our best. Kids are using what they have to deal with the situation. Their brain and nervous system are underdeveloped and reacting. They are not trying to upset us or manipulate us. It is our job to look beyond the behaviour, teach them and guide them through.

Some of our fun these few weeks 🩷

1) Learning about first sounds while making a farm picture
2) Finding minis in the waterbeads and giving our friend instructions about where to put it on our picture
3) Early intervention session where we learnt about clean and dirty and built sentences using a communication board (i.e. "wash elephant")
4) Practicing fluency techniques while reading recipes

And yet we always feel like we need more toys 🤭

Finishing off the last week with some christmas tree ornaments. These are so fun and can be used for any goal!

Extra plus - it makes the perfect end of the year gift for the kiddos. Pair it with a sweetie, and you have smiles all around 🌲🙂

It's almost the end of the year and Grade 1 is just a few weeks away for some of our kiddos.

Some August sessions...

We LOVE making use of alternative & augmentative communication methods in our sessions. Whether it's a visual aid to help with sentence building or understanding of concepts, a gesture to make an abstract concept more concrete, Makaton signs or a communication board for a non-speaking child (just to name a few) - AAC is invaluable in supporting individuals in their communication skills. It supports children in using any and all modes possible to communicate.
