Most scaffolding issues don’t start with the original build. They start later - after modifications, missed inspections, unclear responsibilities, or assumptions around compliance.

For safety officers and HSE managers, the question isn’t only whether a scaffold is safe today. It’s whether the systems behind it are strong enough to keep it safe throughout the project.

Our latest article breaks down what you should expect from a scaffolding contractor under SANS 10085, where accountability gaps typically appear, and the practical controls that reduce risk before problems start.

Not every site gives you a clear path to work from. Tight footprints, active facilities, heritage buildings, coastal conditions, live traffic zones - these environments need engineered access solutions, not standard scaffold setups.

In our latest article, we unpack how ladder beams, stair towers, and Layher systems solve complex access challenges while maintaining safety, compliance, and efficiency.

If your project involves difficult access or high-risk environments, this is worth a read.

Engineer sign-offs are not a formality on complex construction projects. They are one of the most important controls protecting programme, compliance, and site safety.

We unpack why engineer-approved scaffold designs matter on high-rise developments, constrained CBD builds, industrial maintenance projects, and exposed coastal sites across Cape Town.

From wind-load calculations and loading platform design to inspection compliance under SANS 10085 and OHSACT, proper scaffold engineering prevents the kind of rework and delays that quietly damage project performance.

Because once scaffolding is erected incorrectly, fixing it later becomes expensive for everyone involved.

Cape Town CBD projects come with zero margin for logistical mistakes.

Limited access. No laydown space. Live pedestrian movement. Tight crane schedules. Wind exposure. Multiple subcontractors competing for the same footprint.

Scaffolding planning sits at the centre of all of it.

In our latest article, we unpack how proper scaffold strategy helps developers, project managers, and contractors avoid costly programme delays on constrained urban builds - from traffic accommodation and pedestrian protection to engineered access solutions and inspection discipline.

If scaffolding is only being discussed once construction starts, the project is already behind.

If scaffolding only becomes a focus once construction starts, delays are almost guaranteed. Poor planning leads to rework, access issues, and unnecessary pressure on your programme.

This article breaks down how to approach scaffold planning properly - from defining access requirements and choosing the right system, to sequencing, compliance, and site logistics. It’s a practical guide for keeping projects moving without last-minute fixes.

ALPINE EVENTS & SEATING are proud to be involved in the Kobus Wiese Super Series 2026!

Named after 1995 Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok lock Kobus Wiese — himself a Paarl Gim old boy — the Super Series brings together almost 50 schools from across the country for a multi-day showcase of South Africa's best schoolboy rugby talent.

With AfriForum as a headline sponsor and SuperSport broadcasting live, this is a tournament that demands world-class event infrastructure.

Alpine Events & Seating designed, supplied, and erected tiered grandstands with tip-up seating, as well as multi-level camera and broadcast towers — all engineered to strict safety standards and delivered on a tight turnaround to ensure the venue was match-ready.

South African schoolboy rugby is the foundation of the Springbok pipeline, and the Western Cape is its heartland.

Events like the Kobus Wiese Super Series are where future Springboks are forged — and we're proud to play our part in making them happen.

ALPINE EVENTS AND SEATING

An Iconic Cape Town event, built from the ground up!

Proud to have been part of the infrastructure team behind the 48th Cape Town Cycle Tour in March 2026 — the world's largest timed cycling event.

Alpine Scaffolding supplied and erected event scaffolding throughout the route, and spectator seating structures at the Green Point finish area, helping create a safe, world-class experience for the thousands of fans who lined the route to watch Ryan Gibbons sprint to a legendary maiden victory.

From grandstand seating to stage and broadcast platforms, it's the kind of work that most spectators never think about — but without it, the event doesn't happen. That's where we come in.

Events of this scale demand precision engineering, tight turnaround times, and zero margin for error. That's the standard we hold ourselves to, every single day.

ALPINE AT K-DAY 2026

Alpine was proud to be involved in this years K-Day event!

K-Day 2026 took place on Saturday, 28 March, at Sandringham Farm, Stellenbosch — running from dawn till dusk. Presented by Kfm, the event offered general access for families with picnic setups, a Chill Zone with a private bar and shaded seating, and a Meerendal Experience including estate dining options.

One of the Western Cape's biggest annual outdoor music events, K-Day brings together thousands of Capetonians for a full day of live local music, food trucks, brand activations, and good vibes in the Winelands.

Event scaffolding doesn’t give you room for error.

Tight deadlines, complex layouts, public safety - everything hits at once. The system you choose either keeps the job moving or slows it down.

That’s why modular systems like Layher are taking over.

Faster to erect. Structurally consistent. Built to handle real-world site pressure — especially in Cape Town’s coastal conditions.

We break down exactly why traditional scaffolding is falling behind, and what modern event builds actually demand: https://alpinescaffolding.co.za/why-layher-modular-systems-set-standard-event-structures/

ALPINE SCAFFOLDING AT ST MARY'S CATHEDRAL

Alpine is proud to have provided the access acaffolding for the recent works at the historic Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Cape Town.

Working on such a landmark requires a solution that is both incredibly safe and technically precise. By utilizing our Layher Allround system, we were able to provide the versatility needed to navigate the unique architecture of this iconic site while ensuring maximum safety and efficiency for all contractors on-site.

It’s a privilege to contribute to the maintenance of Cape Town’s heritage. Great work by the team on another successful project!
