🤔 What is Alzheimer's Disease? Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It is the most common cause of dementia among older adults, but it can also affect individuals in their 40s and 50s. Alzheimer's is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of protein deposits in the brain, leading to the death of brain cells.
As Biokineticists our goal will be to improve memory and cognition as well as delay the progression of the disease.
How does Alzheimer’s start and progress?
It starts in your entorhinal cortex and then proceeds to the hippocampus which is very important in memory formation. As the hippocampus degenerate, memory begins to alter. From there on it spreads to other parts of the brain and influences its function as well.
