Muscle growth, scientifically known as hypertrophy, is a captivating and intricate process that transforms your body's strength, size, and functionality. It's not just about lifting weights; it's a fascinating interplay of biology and exercise science.

💪 The Science Behind Muscle Growth 💪
The process of hypertrophy can be simplified into a few key steps:
1️⃣ Mechanical Stress: Resistance training, such as weightlifting, creates tiny muscle fiber tears, initiating the hypertrophy response.
2️⃣ Inflammation and Repair: Your body's natural response to these microtears is to initiate inflammation and repair processes.
3️⃣ Protein Synthesis: To repair and rebuild, your body increases the synthesis of muscle proteins, ultimately making the muscle fibers thicker and stronger.
4️⃣ Cell Nucleus Addition: Muscle growth also involves adding new cell nuclei, which are essential for protein production.
5️⃣ Nutrient Availability: Adequate nutrition, particularly protein intake, is crucial for fuelling muscle growth and repair.

Are you fascinated by the science of muscle growth, or do you have insights to share about your own hypertrophy journey? Feel free to share your experiences, questions, or thoughts below, and let's continue exploring the captivating world of fitness and muscle development! 💬👇

🤔 What is Alzheimer's Disease? Alzheimer's disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It is the most common cause of dementia among older adults, but it can also affect individuals in their 40s and 50s. Alzheimer's is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of protein deposits in the brain, leading to the death of brain cells.

As Biokineticists our goal will be to improve memory and cognition as well as delay the progression of the disease.

How does Alzheimer’s start and progress?
It starts in your entorhinal cortex and then proceeds to the hippocampus which is very important in memory formation. As the hippocampus degenerate, memory begins to alter. From there on it spreads to other parts of the brain and influences its function as well.

Elevate your fitness game by mastering body composition! 💪 Beyond weight, delve into the realms of fat percentage, muscle mass, and bone density to sculpt the strongest, leanest version of yourself.

Body composition refers to the proportion of fat, muscle, bone, and other tissues that make up the body. It's essential to understand that weight alone doesn't provide a complete picture of health and fitness. By assessing body composition, we can better understand our bodies and track progress more effectively.

With every measurement, you're not just tracking progress – you're sculpting a masterpiece of strength and vitality. Let's redefine fitness, one body composition analysis at a time! 🏋️‍♀️✨

Ever wondered what makes our elbows bend and flex so effortlessly? It's all thanks to the intricate network of ligaments that hold this joint together! 💪

💡 Ligament 101: Ligaments are tough, fibrous tissues that connect bone to bone. In the case of our elbows, they play a pivotal role in stabilizing the joint and allowing a wide range of movements.

🧐 Let's break it down further:
1️⃣ The Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL): This is the MVP when it comes to resisting valgus stress, which means it keeps our elbows from collapsing inward.
2️⃣ The Radial Collateral Ligament (RCL): It's all about resisting varus stress, preventing our elbows from collapsing outward. So, when you're lifting those weights, thank the RCL! 🏋️‍♀️
3️⃣ The Annular Ligament: This ring-like ligament wraps around the radius, allowing it to rotate smoothly, which is essential for forearm movement. Say hello to turning doorknobs and twisting your wrist! 🚪

💥 Fun Facts:
It is not recommended to swing a little child by holding on to
their hand as their annular ligament might slip off. This condition is called a nursemaid’s elbow or pulled elbow.

🤔 What is Multiple Sclerosis (MS)?
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibers, disrupting the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and the rest of the body.

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. It can cause a wide range of symptoms, making daily life a constant challenge. But it doesn't define the individuals living with it.
