My name's John Dickinson. I was a victim of SEXTORTION. I never even knew that such a word existed.
In case you too are unfamiliar with the term, it's a terrifying form of online extortion - or blackmail. You're literally held to ransom.
None of us are safe from it, regardless of whether we're on a dating app, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram.
Shortly after my apocalypse, I was out on my mountain bike in a wilderness area. It was a perfect day. There was a light breeze in my face and a cloudless sky overhead. But within, my heart was filled with doomsday shame and remorse. I was reeling at the prospect of my imminent humiliation.
It's nearly 18 months later, but nothing will erase the memory of that night: 26 July 2021.
I had a choice to make; to 'Face The Shame', or cower - and hide.
I chose to write about my experience. It's one of only very few firsthand accounts out there. If you'd like to read it, and secure yours' and your family's future, please go to the Amazon Bookstore (amazon.com/amz-books/store) - and search for 'I Was A Victim Of Sextortion' by John Dickinson.
My intention for this page is for it to be a 'safe haven' where people can feel free to speak out and share their pain.
Apart from supporting each other, it's critical that we help everyone develop their cyber sense. A cyber-savvy community is the only way we can stop this scourge.
Let's FACE THE SHAME - together - and save lives...
