👧👶👦🌍 Today is World Children's Day, and at Pelgrims Place, we believe in serving and giving back. Our residents had an amazing time helping the Paternoster community kids build their own Go-Karts, and teaching them some valuable woodworking skills! ​It was a day full of sawdust, shared skills, and new friendships. This is what community is all about.

There is a promise, a life beyond your wildest dreams. What does this mean to me? Peace and contentment are the first things that come to mind. If I can help another addict find God, then I have used my past in a way that I’ll be proud of. If I continue to show up, take the next right action, I’ll be a very blessed man."

Productivity & reaching small goals.

“I have found a lot of peace in productivity. Focusing my mind on achieving small goals has kept a lot of the chaotic noise that comes with dealing with depression.
Rather than wallowing in a sea of negativity and hopelessness, I choose to stay positive and set small goals for myself each day. Stronger boundaries, being interactive in groups or taking more initiative during work allocations, all serve to make me feel accomplished and fulfilled at the end of the day.

Writing Therapy - Feelings Matter

“For as long as I can recall, I have felt a sense of not being enough. No matter what I achieved, I was never the best. That is strange, wanting to be the best. Who defines 'the best'? I’m not sure. This feeling has led me astray. As of late, I have doubted my feelings, unsure whether they serve me. That doubt was a mistake. Rather than disregarding my emotions because they don’t make sense, I have decided to hone in on them to understand them. No longer will I pretend that they are of no importance. My feelings matter.”
