🎨🎭Art group with Magda about the masks (ineffective coping mechanisms) we wear in addiction.
This creative workshop gave the residents valuable insights into the people they became throughout their addiction in an attempt to fill the void that only a life of surrender to Christ and recovery can ultimately fill.

We attended an art class with Uro at Curo Ceramics Barn Paternoster, where we created rosary beads inspired by the 55 boulders of Paternoster, each bead carrying a sense of grounding and connection to the landscape. We then painted our own individual mugs, allowing space for personal expression, creativity, and reflection.

“Ever since I can remember I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands; as a child I would sit for hours building all sorts of things with my Lego, it helped quieten my mind, and O found so much happiness in it!
Since coming to Pelgrims Place I have found so much joy in re-discovering my love of the craft, and I have found much peace and time for reflecting on life in the workshop. Like life, things often do not turn out as one had originally planned, but it’s in ones ability to take those mistakes and incorporate them into the final product that has taught me a valuable life lesson.”

“From being in active addiction it’s always been difficult communicating effectively. Usually the go to was to react and protect the addict in me. Being is rehabilitation I’ve come to realize, in situations, not to immediately react, and first calmly observe and then respond in a proper manner. To be able to sort things that might have got a bit heated, calmly. Being able to actually respond and not just react. Peace!✌️”
