In uncertain time, we looks for certainty.
Like all businesses at 5pm on 26 March 2020 the company was faced with the huge challenge of Lockdown, that of shutting its doors and sending its staff home (for their safety) for a 3 week period or longer. This, as for many companies, presented a number of challenges for management – including cash flow.
As opposed to looking at the negatives of Lockdown, management looked at the opportunity. Hence the SURVISOR Face Shield project was born.
Using the company’s technical staff (including designers and engineers) and specialized equipment the company looked at ways it could remain operating but to offer a product which could be a used to save lives in this current COVID-19 pandemic. The company obtained its Essential Services Certificate on the 27th of March and in only a few days reconfigured its plant and began producing the face shields. While the business is not yet at full capacity, staff present within the plant wear masks and practice good hygiene, social distancing, receive PPE and are checked daily for any signs of fever. The face shield, which can be produced in volumes of over 350,000 units per week, is a necessity for health care workers, essential workers but has also been used in other spheres of commerce. The shield covering is shown to have the ability to reduce the chances of receiving or passing on the virus as it covers the whole face
