Social Employment Fund (SEF) Enterprise Development Spotlight:
My name is Remofilwe Tsatsi, and I am from Brooksby village near Gelukspan in Mafikeng, North West Province. I am a young farmer passionate about agriculture and building a successful farming business. I am also committed to creating employment opportunities for young people in my community and believe that agriculture can drive development and food security in rural areas.
I run Malebo Poultry and Vegetables, named after my mother and mentor, Malebogo. At my farm, we produce fresh vegetables and broiler chickens using sustainable farming methods. My passion for farming and the desire to create opportunities in my village inspired me to start this business.
I began in 2015 on a small plot with about 100 chicks, managing everything myself. In 2017, I officially registered the business to unlock growth opportunities. Today, I own five hectares of land, produce both vegetables and poultry, and have grown my broiler production to around 300 chickens. I am proud to have created employment for five people, including one person living with a disability.
The SEF Programme and Lima helped me strengthen my business by improving record-keeping, cash flow management, and overall planning. Their support also helped me see my farm as a sustainable business and boosted my confidence as an entrepreneur.
Looking ahead, I aim to expand my farm, build at least four broiler houses to increase production, and create more job opportunities for young people. I also hope to grow the business into nearby areas.
I would like to sincerely thank Lima Rural Development Foundation, the Social Employment Fund Programme, and my mentor for their support and belief in me. Their guidance has helped me grow personally and professionally, and I am committed to continuing to build my business and make a positive impact.
