Our Story

Natural Childbirth Centre, Pietermaritzburg is a collaboration between myself, Marianne Littlejohn (midwife) and Dr K Dhavaraj (obstetrician). We both want to create a natural childbirth facility accessible for all pregnant women and families in the area. We both want to work with and for you, the community. Pregnancy, birth and caring for our children are the most important events in a lifetime. Women want to know they are safe and supported, yet at the same time empowered in their pregnancy birth and parenting journey.

The Natural Childbirth Centre will offer midwifery and woman centred care during pregnancy and birth for healthy, low risk women. Prenatal care, care during labour and birth and postnatal followup will be part of the packages we offer.

We encourage all parents to fully engage with our team in taking responsibility for your health and wellbeing. In this way, we can create a loving strong community in which our babies and children will thrive.
