This Nutrition Week our Capitol Caterers Dietician (Raeesa Nakhooda) puts emphasis on the importance of gut health. Today's Message is simple and brings us closer to healthier lifestyles. Aim to eat at least 30 plant based foods per week. This includes: Vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fruit, legumes and herbs.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been celebrated in October since the eighties. It is called "Pink October" as people around the world adopt the pink colour and display a pink ribbon to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and routine screening for early diagnosis. Breast cancer is now the second most commonly diagnosed cancer globally.

This year our Pharmacy month was filled with much activity and education. The team began with a Career Day at the Grange Primary School, promoting the profession. Followed by a Safe Medication Awareness Campaign at Willowfontein Clinic on World Pharmacy Day. We closed off with an Appreciation Day celebrating their contribution to our hospital. Thank you for all you do, we see you.

The CRC Sport and Wellness Day is an annual event held during Heritage Month in iMbali Unit 18. The event brings the entire community together, (young and old) for a day of physical, mental, financial and spiritual wellbeing. Eden Gardens and Ubuntu Emergency Medical Services joined hands in providing much needed health education and free screening.

Today we are in full support of the Sandile Zuma Charity Run. The 5 and 19 km runs were a huge success with close to 500 participants. We'd like to thank all our staff, doctors and ambulance services for their food donations and contributions to this Community Event.

Yesterday we paused to celebrate Spring & Admin Professional's Day. Our amazing teams from the hospital and doctors practices, were treated to a Special Wellness Session. Our speaker Colonel Thabiso Ntshangase(Clinical Psychologist) shared her expertise on creating a work-life balance and focusing on one's personal growth. Thank you to our marketing team, Lancet Laboratories and Capitol Caterers for spoiling our guests.

This Women's Month our team supported the 33rd annual Basketball Tournament at Pmb Girls High School. Our ladies also participated in the colour run on the day. Promoting Cameraderie and teamwork amongst our female youth will ensure they become responsible adults in the near future.
