Msunduzi Hospice services boosted by Innisfree Trust donation
CEO Letitia Marais & Palliative Care Manager Brenda Urwin (Msunduzi Hospice), with Angie Narayanan of the Community Chest acknowledging the Innisfree Trust
For the second year in a row, the Innisfree Trust in collaboration with the PMB & District Community Chest has given the not-for-profit (NPO) sector of Pietermaritzburg and District a welcome boost to the quality of services they offer with a substantial donations towards asset-class projects of the benefitting NPOs.
In 2024, as its first donation, the Innisfree Trust awarded a million rand to the PMB A***n Benevolent Society’s new state-of-the-art senior citizens home, located alongside their Sunlit Gardens Children’s Home. In 2025, the Community Chest has identified four worthy NPOs and projects to support from the funds entrusted by the Innisfree Trust. Earlier this year, the Association for and of the Disabled (APD) acquired a much needed brand new vehicle to continue its community outreach work. Now, Msunduzi Hospice got a much appreciated boost with the supply of brand new palliative care equipment valued at over R323,000.
Both the Board of Directors and Staff were thankful to the Innisfree Trust and the Community Chest for their thoughtful consideration of the much needed upgrade of equipment for an even better quality of service to their patients.
The Innisfree Trust is the result of the generous bequest of a past resident of Pietermaritzburg who, in appreciation to the people of Pietermaritzburg, wanted to give back to them in a significant and meaning way. All of Pietermaritzburg salutes this most generous gesture! The Community Chest appreciates the trust placed in it to manage the Innisfree donation for another year.
