Over the years I have noticed that as I spend more time discovering my resources and practicing (embodying) them regularly, like yoga, movement, sensory play, fostering meaningful friendships, chanting, dancing, walking, being in the body, etc. the more i happen to find myself in the here and now where there is no real threat, and where spontaneity is the essence.
Once a painful experience(or ongoing) has passed, and the body continues to react in daily life as if that painful experience is happening again and again, it is usually our physiological systems protection mechanism born out of that trauma-genic moment in an attempt to survive the situation. And as a result, what we are reliving today is usually a perceived threat rather than an actual threat - which understandably pulls us right out of the here and now where harmony lives.
