Our Story
The Bethesda Addiction Treatment Centre has closed after 16 years of amazing service to addicts and their loved ones both locally and internationally.
We have reopened as "Bethesda Retreat – Residential Sobriety".
A safe, warm and empathetic place for people in early recovery to practice and exercise their new way of life.
We understand that Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the recovery community not just locally. Internationally as well.
It has had an equally huge and devastating impact on the recovery industry.
Many of the smaller family run institutions have had to close down or rethink and re-purpose what they have and what they offer.
Twelve Step fellowship meetings have closed down worldwide. With many resorting to Zoom and other digital platforms to reach out to those still struggling and suffering.
For some however the struggle needs real human connection.
Perhaps we can help each other.
Bethesda Retreat is an extremely comfortable home in the beautiful town of Plettenberg Bay, offering recovery focused accommodation for up to 14 people.
Hosted and managed by addiction and recovery specialists, Bethesda Retreat offers the perfect atmosphere of sober accommodation.
Men and women leaving treatment facilities and/or in the early days of their recovery, have the opportunity to negotiate their process of transition, in comfort and at their own pace.
Come in and regroup, reground, re-calibrate or work a relapse rescue programme.
If anyone needs safe living, which includes evening meal, good mentoring in a recovery atmosphere, DSTV, WiFi, all the blah blah’s. 14 beds. Single rooms, double rooms and a dorm. Counselling if needed, groups if needed.
Application of personal 12 Step programme must be evident. A Clean Covid-19 test a must.
Reach out. Let’s chat, do an assessment and see how best we can help you.

Do the right thing, with the right people, in the right places, at the right time, for the right reasons 🥳
Ehab.healthcare: It's accurate, it's affordable and it's ready.
Education Liberation and Empowerment.
VALLEY OF ADDICTION: Explaining how people slide into the valley, why they cannot get out of the valley, how we go in and counsel them, and how they can then get out, stay stay out, and thrive like never before.
PARENTING STYLES: By listening to the voices of chemically dependent men and women since 1994, we have produced a series of talks on various parenting styles that actually contributed to a high probability of becoming chemically dependent. This course offers the information and examples necessary for the development of 'Addiction Prevention Parenting'
CBT - MINDFULNESS: Offer the opportunity for the development of 'Motivation in Isolation' during these times of confusion. This course creates an awareness of our thoughts and feelings as they happen, from moment to moment.
It's about allowing ourselves, to see the present moment clearly, and then when we do that, we can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives.
Working from Home? CBT - MINDFULNESS offers a refreshing manner of effectively managing the boundary between your work and your home life, reducing stress and anxiety, increasing and maintaining motivation and supplementing relationship quality.
It's not just about addictions ... but check this out anyway.

To all the women who have passed through Bethesda in the last 16 years.
Be it client, friend, colleague. You have awed us, challenged us, inspired us, frustrated us, deeply moved us. We have seen some of you fight and overcome what at times seemed to be insurmountable odds. We have witnessed unbelievable courage from you. We love, admire and respect you. We thank you, we are grateful that we have had the privilege of being a part of your life and you being a part of ours. We are blessed.
May our Father God bless you all on this woman's day and everyday.
