CrossFit recognizes ten general physical attributes. These are:
1. Cardiovascular/Respiratory Endurance
2. Stamina
3. Strength
4.Flexibility
5. Power
6. Speed
7. Co-ordination
8. Agility
9. Balance
10. Accuracy.
You are as fit as you are competent in each of these ten attributes of fitness. We believe that fitness is about performing well at any and every task imaginable. CrossFit workouts are constantly varied.
You can expect workouts to include anything from callisthenic bodyweight exercises like squats, sit-ups and burpees, to using a variety of equipment like medicine balls, kettlebells and plyometric boxes, to gymnastic based movements such as ring dips and pull-ups, to weightlifting with barbells and dumbbells.
CrossFit does not separate cardio, core training and resistance training. We strive to blur the line between cardio and strength training, as nature has no regard for this distinction. We blend our programming to match the uncertainty of life. CrossFit training is functional and constantly varied. This constant variation will increase your all-around athleticism, and reduce the likelihood of you getting bored with your training. In-fact the opposite is trueโฆ CrossFit training is so addictive โ youโll want to constantly challenge yourself.
Aim of CrossFit
The Aim of CrossFit is to forge and create as type of fitness and strength as broad as possible. If you are a weightlifter, we want to make you a better weightlifter and make you a better runner! If you are a good ruuner, we aim to improve your running and make you stronger! This means a broad, general and inclusive fitness.
We aim to prepare people for the unknown, and the unknowable. Our speciality is not to specialize! How do we do this? With prescribing constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement.
As you work to become a fitter and healthier person, you will need to learn about:
Movement - How to move safely and effectively.
Fitness - What it means to be fit. Its definition, the supporting theories, and how to go about attaining it in real life.
Nutrition: Eat meat & vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise, but not body fat. Education is a big part of CrossFit. When you start, you are not expected to have the knowledge you need.
CrossFit is an education about movement, fitness, nutrition and community. All of these things require responsibility, common sense, and work to educate oneself using all the tools available in the community.
Affiliate Gyms: CrossFit is also a community of more than 4,500 gyms worldwide. Those are all local, small businesses that share the philosophies of CrossFit and legally license the CrossFit name.
Coaching: Moving well is hard to do, and the best way to accomplish good movement is with a competent coach who teaches functional movements and whose style and personality complements yours. The affiliates all have different styles and different cultures.

Each affiliate is different, and you should ask a lot of questions to make sure the affiliate you work with is a good fit for you. There are great coaches that arenโt a great fit for everyone.
