1. Round the clock skin to skin Kangaroo Care. with mom , dad, siblings or grandparents.
2. No baths under 2.5kg. only wipe down. dipping babies in water drastically drops their body temperature making them use all their energy to bring it up again and no energy to feed.
3. small babies fall asleep while feeding . wake them and if they too tired to suck then top up with expressed breastmilk.
4. Feed at least every 2 hrs . I know you get no sleep but your baby needs to feed often to grow.
5. Be kind to yourself . this is a very tough stage and you will get through it
6. Learn and watch videos about how to resuscitate a baby if they turn blue . this is common in preemie and can be very scary. and a calm and educated parent can save the situation.
