Seated Forward Fold aka Paschimottanasana.
If you are struggling in seated Forward Fold try using a starp to help straighten your knees. You can still keep your knees slightly soft.
Sitting in staff pose
Grab a strap and place it under your feet where you find it comfortable
Gently straighten your knees while holding the strap in two hands
Bring your strap into one hand and gently walk both hands down the strap one at a time
Go just as far as is comfortable for you.
Keep your spine straight rry nit to round it. Engaging your core muscles and thighs will help with this.

We welcomed April with a magical full moon last week, and as we ease into the end of this short work week, it’s the perfect time to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
Join us for a gentle, all-levels yoga flow class where we’ll explore the beautiful theme of Virya — the inner courage and quiet strength that already lives within each of us. Virya reminds us that true bravery isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to move forward with an open heart, even when things feel uncertain.
Let’s embrace our inner courage together, without fear, and create space for calm, clarity, and renewal.
📍 Thursday at 17:30 at House of Asante Spa

Downward facing dog aka Adho mukha svanasana
This time we are using the blocks by our hands.
Place blocks by your hands
Come into downward facing dog in any comfortable way you choose
Place hands on blocks fingers facing slightly out
I found this helped engage my arms and push those shoulder blades together
In this pose I felt more in alignment using the blocks and a deeper stretch into the back
Have fun playing around with blocks in Downward facing dog.

Thursday, April 2nd brings with it the magic of the Full Moon — a beautiful time to pause, reflect, release, and realign.
Join me on your mat as we gently let go of what no longer serves us, while creating space to invite in what we truly need and desire. The energy of the Full Moon supports both release and manifestation, making this a powerful and nurturing practice.
We’ll move through the soothing rhythms of Surya Namaskar and Chandra Namaskar — two gentle, flowing sequences that honour both the sun and the moon. This class is suitable for all levels, so you are warmly welcome exactly as you are.
Class will be held at House of Asante Spa at 17h30.
Cost is R150 per person.
Spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
To reserve your mat, please contact Louise on 061 531 7737.
I look forward to sharing this special evening with you

Side crow aka Parsva Bakasana
Here is a little help with side crow. If you are struggling to lift those legs in side crow add a couple of blocks under your feet to lift the feet up so that you can get the feel of the pose.
I start in a standing position
Twist to the left or right side
Place feet on the blocks
Adjust hands
Align wrists with elbows
Place knees on upper arm and then lift that bumb a little so that your weight shifts onto the arms
Gaze ahead on the floor and not at your hands

April invites us into the energy of Virya — Courage.
In yoga philosophy, Virya is not just about bold action or fearlessness. It is the quiet, steady courage that lives within you — the strength to show up, even on the days when it feels hard. It is the willingness to step onto your mat, to breathe through discomfort, and to trust in your own growth.
Virya reminds us that courage is not the absence of fear, but the choice to move forward with an open heart. It is found in small, consistent actions — holding a pose a little longer, trying something new, or simply choosing presence over perfection.
This April, let Virya guide you.
Be brave in your body, gentle with your mind, and open in your heart.

Downward facing dog aka Adho Mukha Svanasana
The challenge was to use blocks in an inversions.
Coming into downward facing dog step onto your blocks.
Adjust your arms accordingly activating the arms by pushing the shoulder blades together.
Gaze through the centre of your legs as you lower your heals toward the ground.
I struggle to get my heals down in this pose but found when using the blocks my heals went down no problem. This helped extend my stretch in the lower calf.

The day began with a gentle rain, a soft reminder to slow down and arrive fully. And despite the weather, the most beautiful group of women gathered at House of Asante for our Nourish one-day retreat—each one showing up with open hearts and a willingness to receive.
We started by connecting, taking a moment to ground, meet, and simply be present with one another. From there, we moved into a nourishing yoga session, allowing the body to soften and open, followed by a deeply calming sound bath that washed over the room, leaving everyone in a state of pure ease and stillness.
After a light, refreshing smoothie, the journey inward continued with back and neck massages. As the ladies returned, their faces said it all—soft, radiant, and completely at peace.
With warm tea in hand, we gently transitioned into the more invigorating part of the day—embracing the ice bath, followed by a soothing swim. It was a beautiful balance of challenge and surrender, of awakening and release.
We gathered again over a wholesome lunch, sharing stories, laughter, and connection. Strangers became friends, and the space was filled with a sense of warmth and belonging.
It was a day of movement, rest, connection, and renewal. A day where each woman was able to pause, breathe, and refill her cup.
And as everyone left, it was clear—hearts were lighter, bodies more relaxed, and souls deeply nourished.
