Recently visited a family member in hospital & it's always so nice to see our little bottles of Sunshine on the food trays :) Well wishes for a speedy recovery are always sent with the juice!

We had an office which was totally under utilised here at work so we decided to use the space a bit better & open a gift shop! A few of our staff members are amazing gift givers so we thought why not use this talent in sourcing beautiful & unique products for everyone else to enjoy. As you will see the shop is a mix of holistic products (chakra candles, sprays, essential oils etc), candles, decor, Sunshine Juice branded items, angels, a corner devoted to the support of cancer as well as a few items for Christmas which seems to be fast approaching. The aforementioned is just a taste of whats on offer so if you have a chance please pop up to the factory at 71 Bathurst Street in the industrial area of Port Alfred (just a few buildings down from the fire station)...we are open Monday to Friday, 08h30 to 16h00. Today marks 3 years since Keith passed away & all of us at Sunshine miss him terribly...he touched all our lives & taught us invaluable lessons in business, life & above all love. Here are some of our staff (unfortunately 7 are missing as they are out & on deliveries etc!) celebrating Keith today & supporting the wonderful Sunflower Fund wearing 2016's bandanas!

SUNSHINE JUICE IS 25 YEARS OLD TODAY!! It all started in 1990 on a small farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape and here we are in 2015, 25 years later. Jen & 3 staff started & ran the small, fledgling business from 3 small interlinked rooms (you can see two of the rooms in the first photo on the far left) - she would answer the phone, take an order & grab a bottle to pass to the next room to be filled with juice, then it was passed back to Jen to put the cap on! It grew a little and Keith joined his wife and they moved to Mount Pleasant Farm with a sizeable factory (Keith, Jen & their son Andrew can be seen in front of one of the offices on this farm in the photo in the middle). The factory then moved to Port Alfred, perfectly positioned between PE & EL & the Sunshine Family has now grown to approx 50 in total (almost all the staff shown in the photo on the far right). A large portion of the staff have also been with us for the entire 25 year journey & all of us as a family celebrated this wonderful milestone with a party & braai at the factory last Friday. It was amazing to celebrate together & we look forward to the next 25 years & more! The biggest of thank you's to all of our wonderful customers for your loyal support over all these years & we look forward to many more happy years with you.

Sorry we have been so quiet on the Sunshine page! In recent times we have had a farewell for Len who has worked at Sunshine Juice for 23 years!!! He is taking an early retirement at the age of 82 ;) He is nicknamed the grumpy, loving, old professor and we will miss his wit, charm, grumpiness & love in the office. We can all only hope to live as he does by the time we reach our 80's! All of us here at Sunshine love him to bits but he must know that he is not getting away from us all & we know where to find him...! PS we had a minion kids themed party for him at the office as at times he seems to resemble a minion & he is just a big lovable kid!

Andrew's OCD tendencies have rubbed off on Bonnie - she is in charge of the cleanliness of freezer number 1 together with Thandiwe and she now ensures that all the bottles are lined up perfectly, in their flavours with all the labels mostly facing forward!! We love organisation & a bit of OCD used for the right reasons:)

Thanks so much to the CANSA association of East London for their support of our Sunshine T for the Relay for Life survivorship event held in March - a percentage of the sale of our new ice tea goes towards the Sunshine Coast Hospice in Port Alfred so it was greatly appreciated:) "This event is an international community-driven project encouraging the community to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer by raising funds to enable them to continue their research, education and their support and care programmes for all those living with cancer, and for those needing bereavement counselling. An important part of the event is to celebrate survivorship - where cancer survivors were invited to be guests of honour where a special survivor's reception area was set up and everyone received snacks and refreshments before the opening of the relay with a survivor's lap of honour. For this specific event organised by the CANSA association in EL - 289 survivors attended:) Support for this type of event and the association brings them closer to the challenge of a cancer-free society within this century. They also hope that this will become their legacy to our children and generations to come." How awesome is that! Luminaria bags were then lit next to the track in the Jan Smuts Stadium in the evening & thanks to Noleen Weyer, a volunteer and organiser for the association, who kindly offered to light one in memory of Keith for us. Well done to CANSA on this amazing event and thanks again for your support.
