Profoundly said, thanks Naomi Holdt
I am not going to wish you a Happy Christmas. I am not going to wish you a Merry one.
“Happy times” are not happy for everyone. They’re not for every season.
There are those carrying heartbreaking losses…
Those carrying heavy burdens…
Those whose strength has run dry…
So I am not going to wish you a Happy Christmas. Those words would be meaningless.
Instead,
I wish you an Honouring Christmas.
A Christmas in which you honour yourself,
In which you honour whatever emotional space you are in…
So often,
The louder the world celebrates,
The more painfully obvious the void within.
The shinier the twinkling lights,
The deeper the wound is torn open.
The more joyful the dancing,
The greater the loss is exemplified.
There’s no pause button on all-embracing emotions.
Pain…
Grief…
Heartache…
Exhaustion…
The ones we often attempt to disguise with masks of merriment.
I am not going to pretend I don’t see your tears,
I am not going to hope the carols drown them out.
I am not going to wish you a Happy Christmas…
I wish you an Honouring Christmas instead.
No emotional space is linear:
One moment you may be erupting with laughter,
And the next, erupting with tears.
Allow yourself to be wherever you are.
To feel whatever you do.
Take off that mask.
You don’t have to wear it.
If you’re feeling heavy this Christmas, honour your grief, your loss, your pain, in whatever way feels right for your soul…
Honour the space you are in…
I wish you the healing that comes when you allow yourself the gift of vulnerability…
When you allow yourself to just BE…
Exactly as you are…
I wish you an Honouring Christmas.
With all my love
Naomi 🎄♥️🎄
