In this day and age where we spend most of our time sitting behind a desk or in front of a computer, slouching ever so often … Stretching has never been more important!

Here are a few benefits of stretching 😊

*Improves the flexibility of muscles
*Decreases risk of injury
*Improves posture
*Improves ability to perform daily and physical activities

It’s recommended to stretch ≥2-3 days/week. You want to stretch to a point of mild discomfort and hold that position for 10 – 30 seconds.

For today's post I thought I would share a little bit about me and give some background to what makes Claudia... Claudia! 😄

I grew up in the lovely city of Gqeberha and graduated from NMU.

- I married my best friend nearly 6 years ago🥰
- We have the cutest chow ever... (he will be featuring in some pics to follow😁)🐶
- I love being outdoors! Going for hikes, jogging, snorkeling, camping,swimming🏕🏞🏃‍♀️ etc.
- I love making music🎶
I play the violin and guitar
- I also love ballroom and latin dancing💃🏻
- I love hanging out with people! Whether it is at a braai or having coffee☕

I am so excited to be a Biokineticist as well as an entrepreneur, having the opportunity to help people through exercise, rehabilitation and general fitness!

I became a Biokineticist because I have a passion for people and exercise. I want to help them achieve their physical goals, whatever they may be!
I fully believe that exercise can be used as a modality to improve activities of daily life and develop a healthy lifestyle.

My passion is to help those with injury recovery/prevention, post-op rehabilitation, improving general fitness or helping those with chronic diseases live a healthier, better life.

I look forward to connect with you and to walk this journey with you to recovery, or reaching your personal goals!

Think humans are meant to slow down as we age? Well, think again.

A team of evolutionary biologists and biomedical researchers have laid out evolutionary and biomedical evidence showing that humans evolved to be relatively active in their later years.

The researchers say that physical activity later in life shifts energy away from processes that can compromise health and toward mechanisms in the body that extend it. This guards against chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers.

"It's a widespread idea in Western societies that as we get older, it's normal to slow down, do less, and retire," said Harvard evolutionary biologist, Daniel Lieberman, the paper's lead author. "Our message is the reverse: As we get older, it becomes even more important to stay physically active."
