When runners keep getting the same injury, the problem is not always the sore spot itself.

Recurring niggles usually point to a pattern: training load changed too quickly, recovery was not enough, movement mechanics were compensating, or one area was taking strain because another area was not doing its job well. That is why treating only the symptom often does not solve the cycle ♻️

👉 Biokinetics plays a key role in assessing how your body moves as a whole, identifying the root cause of the issue, and building a targeted plan to break the cycle and keep you running consistently.

Standing with your weight shifted onto one leg may feel comfortable, especially while waiting or chatting. Over time, this asymmetrical loading can contribute to hip imbalance, lower back strain, and reduced glute engagement.

Biokinetics assesses load distribution and hip stability to improve muscular balance and joint support. Small adjustments in strength and posture can significantly reduce repetitive strain.

Some children naturally sit in a “W” position on the floor because it feels stable and easy. While occasional W-sitting isn’t harmful, frequent use can limit hip rotation development and reduce core and postural muscle engagement over time. When stability comes from the position rather than the muscles, long-term movement control may be affected.

Biokinetics assesses hip mobility, strength, and coordination to ensure children develop balanced movement patterns. Encouraging alternative sitting positions and building postural strength supports healthier joint development and better movement confidence.

It’s Not Just ‘Growing Pains’

Many children complain of “growing pains” during school terms - sore knees, aching legs, or back discomfort after sport. While growth plays a role, repeated load, muscle imbalance, and poor movement control are often bigger contributors than parents realise.

Biokinetics helps assess how a child’s body is managing growth, sport, and school demands. Supporting strength, control, and alignment early can reduce strain and help growing bodies adapt more comfortably.

For many people, the idea of a “healthy lifestyle” sounds like strict meal plans, expensive groceries, long gym sessions, and routines that only work if life is perfectly organised.
If your version of health requires more time, money, or discipline than your current season of life allows, it isn’t sustainable.

A healthy lifestyle should be accessible. It should fit into your real routine, your real budget, and your real responsibilities.

Welcome to the team, Elzari (Ella) 💚

Ella has officially joined Pam Black Bio and we’re so excited for what she brings to our practice.

Ella completed her BHSc in Biokinetics at NMU and is a member of the Golden Key Honour Society. Beyond academics, she served as a peer mentor, something that speaks volumes about her leadership and ability to support others on their journey. What stood out to us most was her genuine love for movement.

She’s passionate about helping people feel better, move better, and grow stronger, not just physically, but in confidence too. When she’s not in practice, you’ll likely find her outdoors or training for her next race (she’s currently preparing for her second IRONMAN 5150!).

Pam Black Bio believes movement is medicine and Ella embodies that philosophy.
We’re proud to welcome her to the team and can’t wait for you to meet her.

Stress isn’t only something we feel - it’s something the body responds to. Prolonged stress can increase muscle tension, alter breathing patterns, and change how we move, placing extra strain on the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Supporting the body through purposeful movement and recovery helps regulate stress before it becomes pain.

Balance is a key contributor to healthy ageing and injury prevention. The 4 Stage Balance test provides insight into how well the body controls stability under a narrow base of support. Practising controlled balance helps reduce fall risk and improves confidence in daily movement.

World Cancer Day (4 Feb) reminds us that movement is one of the most powerful daily prevention tools you can control because it supports cardiovascular health, metabolic health, and resilience. This week’s challenge: “15-Minute After-Dinner Walk” for 7 days - simple, sustainable, and family-friendly.

Longevity Is Built, Not Bought

Recovery tools and wellness trends can support health, but they don’t replace effort. Strength, bone density, and cardiovascular fitness improve when the body is progressively challenged over time. Longevity is the result of consistent, purposeful movement.

Persistent neck or back tightness is often a sign of movement compensation rather than isolated muscle tension. When one area lacks strength or mobility, another area absorbs extra load. Improving movement quality reduces repeated strain.

As work and school routines resume, daily movement often becomes more repetitive and less varied. Long periods of sitting, carrying bags, and reduced general movement can quietly increase load on joints and muscles. Supporting your body early with purposeful movement helps prevent stiffness from becoming pain.
