We're back with more Safety Tips for the week!
Fire Safety and the three main points that you should be aware of:

1. Prevent - Taking steps to prevent fires from starting in the first place. This includes things like proper storage of flammable materials, regular equipment inspections and maintenance, having designated smoking areas, etc. Preventing fire hazards is the primary goal.

2. Contain - Having measures in place to contain a fire and stop its spread if it does occur. This includes things like installing fire-rated walls and doors, using fire-resistant materials in construction. Containment localizes a fire if it is not prevented.

3. Extinguish - Knowing how to properly extinguish a fire if prevention and containment fail. This involves having the right types of fire extinguishers readily available and accessible, ensuring they are properly maintained and inspected, and people being trained on how to operate them. Extinguishment limits damage by stopping the combustion process.

Join our team as a Health & Safety Intern! Your responsibilities will include:
Assist in maintaining and administering the Company's health, safety and environment systems and databases
Assist in completing incident and investigation reports and ensure that all relevant stakeholders are updated on the above matters
Assist in conducting internal SHEQ audits / risk assessments, inductions, audits and inspections
Assist in coordinating health and safety training as required (including toolbox talks, safety and quality briefings)
Ensure that safety files are completed and up to date for each site
Assist with the ordering of PPE, maintaining of the PPE stores and the issuing out PPE to employees
Maintaining/implementing OHS systems
Conducting Coordinating SHE training and PPE requirements
Managing contractor safety
You'll gain hands-on experience supporting clients in high-risk industries. Must be a qualified H&S Representative with vehicle.

Safety Management Group's safety tip of the week: Hospitality Safety and what we do to help!

- Recommend controls - Based on risk assessments and audits, they recommend appropriate control measures to reduce risks. This could include guarding machinery, installing signage, upgrading equipment, etc.

- Investigate incidents - In case of any safety incidents or accidents, they help investigate causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

- Liaise with enforcement agencies - Consultants help with compliance requirements and act as an interface between businesses and enforcing authorities like the Department of Employment and Labour and the Police.
