Keep on crawling, crawling…

This will help you understand why children sometimes do not cope with what is expected of them.

This will help you understand why children sometimes do not cope with what is expected of them.

Can you believe this could be causing attention and focus problems…

You may not realize it, but bad or stooped posture could be causing a child to fidget, squirm or even have ADHD-like symptoms in the classroom.

How could it possibly be related?

When a child has poor core strength, they can’t hold up the torso of their body, which creates slumping and bad posture. And, if the child has one or more retained Primitive Reflexes impacting posture and core stability, you will see the child struggling even more.

Core strength and core stability is what helps kids sit upright automatically without having to think about it. This frees the brain for learning, rather than having to focus so hard on getting their body in a position where they can focus.

Kids with poor posture and core stability may lack the following:

😣Attention and focus
😣Motivation to complete tasks
😣Coordination and fine motor skills for handwriting
😣Balance to hold themselves upright in their desk

To learn more about how core stability is impacting each one of these areas and the retained Primitive Reflexes causing trouble with posture, check out the link below or grab it in our profile.

A parent once entered his child's Grade 1 classroom and noticed him sitting outside with some other children, all playing with play dough. The parent was upset and said, "I do not pay school fees for my child to sit and play with play dough."
What was concerning was that these young children’s hand muscles were not yet fully developed to perform all the fine motor skills expected in Grade 1. Moulding, rolling, and cutting play dough are excellent activities for strengthening those tiny muscles in the hands and fingers. Unfortunately, many children who spend a lot of time on electronic devices may have underdeveloped hand muscles, which are crucial for activities like writing, drawing, and cutting.
Playing with play dough offers numerous benefits for children, including:
1. Enhancing Fine Motor Skills: Manipulating play dough helps develop hand strength, finger dexterity, and overall fine motor control necessary for writing and other tasks.
2. Encouraging Creativity and Imagination: Children can create anything they envision, fostering artistic expression and inventive thinking.
3. Promoting Sensory Development: The tactile experience of squishing, rolling, and shaping play dough stimulates the senses and supports sensory processing.
4. Supporting Cognitive Development: Playing with play dough helps children learn about shapes, sizes, and concepts such as balance and symmetry.
5. Boosting Emotional Well-being: It provides a calming, stress-relieving activity that can help children express their emotions and enhance concentration.
6. Enhancing Language Skills: As children play, they often describe their creations, expanding their vocabulary and communication abilities.
7. Building Social Skills: Playing together encourages sharing, cooperation, and teamwork.
Overall, play dough is a versatile, engaging, and highly beneficial activity that supports various aspects of a child's development.

I love how these little ones took their time to carefully scoop bath salts into a little pot to spoil their mommies for Mother’s Day. They find real life activities so much more entertaining than toys. And the bath salts had the extra bonus of the rose essential oils in it. May this help soaking away our hardworking mommies’ stress! We appreciate all your love and commitment! Happy Mother’s Day to you all!
