For the first 7 months, baby doesn't know they are a separate being from mom ❤️

In the first months of life, a baby’s brain does not clearly separate “self” from caregiver. The mother’s voice, scent, heartbeat, and warmth are processed as part of one shared safety system.

This is not emotional dependency in an adult sense. It is neurological development. The infant brain is still learning where the body ends and the outside world begins.

Because of this, separation can trigger strong stress responses. Even short absences may feel like a loss of safety, not just distance. The nervous system reacts quickly.

Over time, responsive caregiving helps build secure attachment. This becomes the foundation for emotional regulation and healthy independence later in life.

Question for the experienced moms.. Was there something odd your kids did when they were little that they never grew out of? E.g. Drew all over themselves then and have tattoos now, or always wore hats and still makes it part of their attire?

We will have a few breastfeeding talks!

From first time to tandem feeding, from beginning to end, with everything in between.

Newborns arrive with instinct intact. Place a baby on mom's belly skin to skin, and they'll crawl toward the breast on their own. They'll search. They'll find it. They'll latch without anyone guiding their head or positioning their mouth. Your baby already knows what to do.

But most hospitals teach the opposite. They position babies. They guide heads. They correct latches. They turn something natural into something that requires instruction. And somewhere in that process, instinct gets disrupted.

Laid-back breastfeeding changes everything. When a mother reclines and lets her baby move freely, the baby's own reflexes take over. Gravity helps. The baby's body finds what it needs. Ni**le damage drops significantly because the baby latches from a position their body chose, not one someone imposed.

This isn't about letting chaos happen. It's about understanding that your baby's body knows more than your hands do. Interference, even well-meaning, can interrupt what's already working.

When you step back and let instinct lead, feeding becomes easier. Babies feed better. Mothers hurt less. What seemed complicated becomes simple again.
