After almost 20 years of working with couples, this is what I know for sure...

A good relationship is not about being perfect. It's not about never fighting. It's not about always agreeing. It's about choosing each other. Again and again. Even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard.

The couples who make it aren't the ones without struggles – they're the ones who face their struggles together.

Are you and your partner willing to do the work? My relationship audit gives you 20 questions to start the conversation.

When last did you and your partner truly check in on your relationship?

As a relationship therapist, I've noticed that couples often wait until things are really broken before seeking help. They come to me when they're already considering separation, or when years of resentment have built up.

In my latest blog, I share 20 questions every couple should ask themselves in 2026.
These are designed to help you:

✨ Reconnect on a deeper level
✨ Make sure you're still on the same page
✨ Address small issues before they become big problems
✨ Celebrate what's working well

Your relationship deserves this attention. Check out my blog for all 20 questions 👇

My partner's a s*x addict, what now?

COUPLES THERAPY CAN WAIT

Couples counselling should only begin once your partner has been in solid recovery for at least 3-6 months. Rushing into couples therapy before the addict has begun their individual healing journey is often counterproductive and can cause more harm. Focus on individual therapy first – for both of you.

My partner's a s*x addict, what now?

LEAVING IS A VALID CHOICE

If you feel unsafe, if the betrayal is too deep, or if your partner refuses to acknowledge the problem and seek help, you have every right to walk away. Leaving doesn't make you a quitter – it makes you someone who values their wellbeing. You deserve a relationship built on honesty, safety, and mutual respect.

My partner's a s*x addict, what now?

IT'S NOT ABOUT YOUR S*X LIFE

S*x addiction is about medicating emotions – anger, loneliness, sadness, boredom, anxiety. It's a coping mechanism for underlying trauma, often rooted in childhood. Even the most beautiful, s*xually adventurous, constantly available partner cannot fix what drives s*x addiction. This is about your partner's relationship with themselves, not with you.

My partner's a s*x addict, what now?

DISCLOSURE IS A PROCESS, NOT AN EVENT

You need the truth to heal, and your partner needs to be honest because "an addict is as sick as his secrets." But full disclosure can only happen once they've begun recovery. Their brain has become sick through acting out and needs time to rewire. This creates a difficult waiting period that requires professional support to navigate.

My partner's a s*x addict, what now?

ACKNOWLEDGE THE TRAUMA

Discovery of a partner's s*x addiction triggers symptoms similar to PTSD. If you're experiencing overwhelming thoughts, difficulty sleeping, physical symptoms like nausea or racing heart, emotional numbness alternating with intense feelings, or hypervigilance – these are normal trauma responses. You need and deserve professional support.
