This labour position below works because the uterus not only contracts in on itself during a contraction, but pulls forward toward the mother’s abdominal wall. Leaning a little forward like this makes it easier and consequently less painful, while her splayed thighs keep the pelvic bones ideally open, and her coccyx can be pushed backwards as intended by Mother Nature. Isn’t the original midwife clever and compassionate?

Had the privilege of helping a client through the most amazing VBAC last night. Mom was an absolute warrior and dad could not have been more attentive or proud of his wife. After a very traumatic first birth experience im so grateful to have been able to help make this second experience a one they will remember with joy 💓 i love my job!
