Dear GQ Stake members.
This year's Light the World project has taken on a slightly different format due to unforeseen circumstances.

We will be doing a drive to collect items for expectant moms (who seek help from the Heart for Alternative pregnancy crisis centre) and their babies through December until early January.

We need the items listed on the poster. If you're able and willing to help (even with something small), please hand them to your RS presidents or Bishops for storage. I will make plans to collect them.

In January, we will get together to package and deliver the completed mom-and-baby bags.

Baby abandonment remains a harsh reality in many communities. These babies are often found by police officers, paramedics, or members of the public, people who are first on the scene and want to help.

Our Abandoned Baby Rescue Kits are designed to support these first responders by providing the essential items needed to care for an abandoned baby until our team can step in.

Each kit includes:
💜 Nappies and baby wipes
💜 A warm blanket
💜 Baby clothing (babygros, vests, beanies, socks)
💜 A bottle and hydration items
💜 A form for gathering important information
💜 Comfort items for the baby

These kits ensure that every abandoned baby receives warmth, comfort, and care from the moment they are found.

🌟 When little ones arrive, they come with nothing but the clothes on their backs which are often torn and dirty.

Diapers, formula, medicine, electricity, food, a safe cot… every single day costs money we don’t always have.

Right now our biggest dream (the 8.8-hectare village) is moving forward, but the babies we have TODAY still need milk tomorrow morning.

Can you help us keep the lights on and the fridges full?

Every R150 goes towards feeding a baby for a week.
Every R500 goes towards nappies and formula for a month.

Every R1,000 helps pay a caregiver who holds them when they cry at 3 a.m.

Once-off gifts or small monthly debit orders — whatever you can do — means we can keep saying YES when the phone rings at midnight.
