FIRST AID TIP 1 continued. WHAT NOT TO DO

1. Never give an unconscious person ANYTHING by mouth.
2.DO NOT MOVE AN INJURED PERSON UNLESS... the situation is life threatening. You may cause further damage by moving, especially in neck and spinal cases.
3. PLEASE NOTE: If a situation arises where you are giving first aid to strangers, adults may refuse first aid (you have implied consent if they are unconscious) for themselves or for children or the mentally impaired for whom they are guardians.
4. USE PROTECTIVE BARRIERS. Wear Latex gloves, face shields or mask whenever possible.(always protect yourself first). It is advisable to check ahead of time to see if you are allergic to latex or the powder used in other products. Blue butyl gloves are an alternative. ALWAYS wash your hands and other exposed areas after administering first aid with soap. Wash for at least 2 minutes to ensure germs are killed.
For this guidance an infant is lees than a year old, a child is 1-8 years old and an adult is over 8 years old.
